Smile Past and Present

I have been a regular to the port for over 30 years and have just returned from a week out there after a 3 year absence. All I can say is the bars and restaurants in general have gone to another level in the ambience and service they provide. The newer outlets with their innovative ideas have only prompted the older more established places to develop what they have already got to remain competitive. So may not agree with me but the extra outside seating in most bars/restaurants has been tastefully done and gives the town a smart cosmopolitan buzz. At the same time it was nice to have a drink in Bar Cultural which has changed little over the years. While there it was nice to watch Lorenzo (ice cream supremo who used to ply his trade on a moped) happily enjoying his retirement on an evening out with his grandchildren.
I think the resort now offers the highest standards in terms of service, quality of food and ambience.
On a more sombre note it is sad to see the likes of Ca`n Pacienci closed and Katy`s boarded up both mega establishments in their own right.
In conclusion we will not leave it another three years as we are planning to return in late summer. You who live in the town should be proud of how the resort has evolved even in these uncertain economic times.
