Come on Katsmum - keep up with things. Haven't you seen the photo's; the updated NEPTUNO will be serving the best tapas in town. No need to look elsewhere!

Hi katsmum

Most restaurants in the Port will have a tapas or racions section on their menu with things like chiperones, calamari, palma ham, pimientos padron to name a few.

My favourite place to go would be Stay, Centric (great chiperones!) or Maxims in the Port or in Pollensa, El Temple or a great little bar at the bottom of the Calvari. Cant think of the name but it is the first place on the right if you are standing at the bottom of the steps.

Never eaten in the above place but it always looks very, very nice. Run by an English couple??

In relation to the new Neptuno's, will it be "authentic" tapas and not the "boil in a bag/out of a freezer kind" does anyone know?

Cheers.

We had some very good tapas this Easter at La Fonda restaurant in the old town - though it has kept the same name and decor it is actually under new ownership now (the family who run Bodega d'es Port in Alcudia). The tapas were really fresh and tasty and they also have a menu of larger Mallorcan dishes - and very good fresh fish which they bring round to your table. Very friendly staff - I can highly recommend.

I noticed quite a few restaurants in the old town now offering tapas - those at Bar Nou also sounded excellent, all home-made, though we didn't try them.

Agree re l'Almirant - it may not be terribly, how shall I put this, cost effective....., but every morsel I had there last week was a tasty treat.

Their lunch menu for two is top drawer, while my mother-in-law enjoyed her chipirones.

Tidy sangria too as we watched the world go by, at some length.

Been trying to go to La Cabana for the last 5 days but its been closed each time. On a positive note we did try the new Neptuno and were very impressed.

The latest on La Cabana is it will re-open on Tuesday. .... Although I'm afraid they will miss out on our custom for this trip. .... after another visit to the new Neptuno today I think we have found our new tapas restaurant
