La Boca

Has anyone been to this restaurant in Pollensa? It's situated on the roundabout where the three furniture stores are - has been a cafe for a couple of years but appears now to have transformed itself into a proper restaurant, opening in the evenings as well. It looks beautiful at night- floating gauze panels and flaming torches - but as it is on the main road we never managed to stop to take a look at the menu. However we noticed that it was quite busy on a couple of occasions. I think it is owned by an Argentinian so imagine it will feature steaks. It is the nearest restaurant by far to where we live when in Pollensa so we would welcome any reports.

Just dying to try this out Kate, couldnt find the time this visit, but have had such great reports on the franchise of Boca re their steaks and love the look of it so will make the effort asap. Had a lunch there before it changed hands after we had wandered around the furniture shops. Im glad we did, because it really isnt as bad as you think it would be sitting on a roundabout! Probably after a few glasses of wine the lights all merge into one anyway! ;)

Having visited this restaurant it appears very popular with local Spanish, Brits and Germans and I can understand why because the steaks followed by the crepes we had were to die for! The menu is fairly extensive and reasonably priced and the service was excellent. It gets very busy so would advise booking so as not to be disappointed.

Went to La Boca last week for the first time. Booked a table for 2 on the terrace, which was so full they had to bring out another table for a group of 4. I would advise booking ahead from now on to guarantee a seat.

The food is very good, had grilled veg and sweetbreads for starters, the grilled veg could have been a little more seasoned with more of a 'grilled' flavour for our liking, but for the price, very good.

For main we shared the mixed meat platter, 18€ pp, a selection of 4-5 cuts of prime Argentinian beef, along with an Argentinian sausage that is very similar to Sobrasada. Its huge, more than enough for 2 big eaters! Obviously some of the cuts were better than others, but again, great value, as we took some home and had it on baguettes for lunch the next day. Would have preferred home cut chunky wedges, rather than skinny fries, but the accompanying red cabbage gave a great sweet taste to all that meat.

The service was good, but a little disorganised as there was a mix up with the bill and out take-out meat. But overall a great night out and will definitely be returning.

By the way, sitting on that roundabout is the best 'people watching' ever! So funny to watch the appalling driving from locals and visitors, its like going to a demolition derby, although thank god there were no demolitions when we were there! :)
