Default Manduca 1 Baaaaarrrrrrcccca 0

Well, my big toe looks like one of those big salchichas you see hanging up in the supermercado. Think it might be an unnoticed mozzie attack but BonyLadette reverts to her usual caring self. " First signs of gout, me lad, told you it would all catch up on you one day !!! ".

So can't get an appointment with El Medico til later this morning ( thank gawd I'm not in the UK !!! ) so to cheer myself up I suggest a take away pizza and a glass of vino or two ( this went down like a lead balloon with madame) in front of the TV and the big match.

So allowing myself plenty of time I hobble on down the square with a carpet slipper on me good foot to Manduca. Those in the know around here reckon they're the best pizzas in town. Huge selection so I settle on a good couple ( Seafood for BLT and meaty mixture para mi). Had a nice copa of vino whilst cooking ( Ssssscchhhh, keep that to yourselves) and stagger back home with the boxes under my arm.

Run into Jose Uno on the corner and exchange pleasantries. Then I make a mistake and pronounce Barca wrong. Jose then proceeds to give me a spanish phonetic lesson and gets his pen out and scrawls words and sounds all over the pizza boxes ( Seriously guy's, do you think I could make this stuff up ? )

Home in time for the kick off, BLT asks what the writing is all over the boxes and I reply , lying through my teeth, " they are the instructions for a perfect pizza I've just bought home !!! "

They were very good, so give em a try folks.

The footy as they say is history now.

If I end up in hospital , folks, uvas negras por favor !!!

Wonderful!!!

Bonyslad, I think you should have your own section on the forum - something like Letter from Puerto Pollensa!

Look forward to reading more!

Unhappy Bad news for Bonyslad

Poor you Bonyslad, the bad news is, if it's gout you will have to give up the Vino tinto in fact anything that is red is bad for gout . SORRY mate.

Thanks for brightening up a dull, wet day here!

I'm a Manduca fan - great pasta and kebabs too.

Manduca is fab I agree but on to Gout. A friend of mine has just recovered from an attack. I was reading a piece about natural remedies in a newspaper and apparently you should eat a couple of handful of cherries - doesn't matter if they are fresh or dried. Still has the same ingredient that works!
Don't know if it is true or not but my friend is going to try it next time he has an attack.

Great news, guys. I live again to write another day. Not gout but a bad infection. La doctora sticks a bloody great needle in me toe and then packs me off to the Pharmacia for antibiotecas.

Ask the sweet girl there if it is possible to beber alcohol with them and she replies " just a little"

Quit when you're winning so we didn't actually define in too much detail what " a little" actually means !!!!

Cheers

We hadn't been back to Manducas since the kids were small, they always loved the food there, so since it has had a refurb we thought we would try it out, we went with the Sparkys as they hadn't been either, glad we did, very nice food, nice inside and very friendly staff.
We spent a lovely lunch time with great company, we chatted to the owner who was very nice and talked to Lyn about the old times and the various owners who have moved around, he calmed to be the only Owner actually born in the port, Lyn pointed at a few others and it was great to feel not like tourist even for a while.
The food was great, I can confirm the pizzas are still up to the usual standard, the other dishes looked huge as well. At the end the owner came out with some homemade drinks and put them on the table for us to help our selves which made me feel even less like a tourist, there was a lovely lemon drink which I had, there was one that Lyn joked had been passed by the management so we missed that one but also one was their own Hierbas with the bottle stuffed full with many different herbs.
We finally staggered out into the sunlight and went our separate ways, a lovely way to spend our last day there. Thanks again to the Sparkys, cant wait till June, and seems like Manduca is still up to its usual high standards, worth a visit.

Sws,

Glad to hear it's still good and our first port of call for take away pizza.

Strange to read these old posts , by the way BonysLaden was buried at sea early yesterday morning

Thought you raised the bar on the restaurant reviews with those pics the other day . Walked past there on the day of the wedding and it was busy mid afternoon.

Yes Emmalou, it is in C/Economo Torres which is the pedestrian area between the square and C/Formentor.
