Default A Port in the Storm

Really think that the saying " a wet weekend in Wigan " should be replaced by
" an Easter Sunday in Pollenca " . What a horrible afternoon and evening , rain and very windy . Still had to get up in the night to secure the roof furniture and gradually the wind is dying off as I write. You just have to feel so sorry for the folks and the kiddies who have come for an Easter Break.

Anyway to the point of the post were dining last night with some longstanding friends from PP so it was quick dash to one of the nearest dining establishments which turned out to be Maxim's . Had the meal of the day at 15. Euros including a glass of wine which is their current offer. Must say it was three of the nicest cooked plates of food I've enjoyed in ages.

Started with Ravioli with wild mushrooms, then lovely calves liver and bacon followed by apple pie with a nice vanilla custard sauce. Must say the housewine was pretty palatable too.

Excellent value for money and then finished up having a quiet nightcap in the Guinness Suite . No rugby songs this time Debs and Snowy !!

Thoroughly enjoyable evening considering it was the sort of night nobody really wanted to venture out.

A real Port in the Storm !

Great post BL, we have never tried Maxim's but that does sound very good.
The weather has been awful this weekend and it's still pretty windy, i hope your "Toldos" are anchored down well .

Ohhhh we're off to see the wild west show, the elephant and the kangaroooooooo.......
Better stop there.
Really pleased that Maxim's restaurant has got a bit of good press here on the forum.
Eaten there on several occasions and ALWAYS had an excellent meal with good service.
I think a problem that some folks reported in previous years was that the service was too quick and a bit too enthusiastic. I just asked the delightful waitress for a little more time between courses and everything was fine.

Re. the weather etc. Attended a charity rugby union match (for Christchurch earthquake / japanese tsunami) in the north of England at the weekend. Excellent sunny weather and not a drop of rain in sight. Lots of people, lots of money for charity. I'm sure BL would have liked to have been there, I would even have bought him a pint or two.
...................never mind the weather, as long as we're together, we're off to see the wild west show. Oh... just noticed, 100th post by the way!
