Monday night, MoD at Tango abt €17. Giant half of chicken. Drinks included. Usual attentive service.
Tuesday it was
El Posito. John Dory and shoulder of lamb. Usual standard along with Tony's well practiced showmanship. Abt €50.
Wednesday lunch, back to El Posito for MoD @ €10. Tasty meatballs and chicken soup.
Wednesday night, off to Pollensa and Número Ocho. Tony's lunch spiked our appetite for this meal, but reduced appetite didn’t detract from an excellent meal and stylish surroundings. Abt €60. Worth the travelling. Fernando, ex
Laroc, is now working at Número Ocho.
Thursday lunch at
Laguna - just a burger and chips but a huge menu to go at if you want to push the boat out. Plus the pool for when the weather warms up a tad. The place to be up this end of the Port.
Thursday night was
Stay MoD night. Usual high standard. What can you say. Position, overwhelming service and good food. And superb people watching. Abt €33 ea. Not a meal – an event!
Overall, considering so early in the season and some just opened, no meals could be rated anything other than very good - everyone welcoming and seemed determined to provide good food and service.
The best? Tango for value for money. Hard to beat. Stay for best overall experience. Best menu? And one to tell someone to give it a try? Número Ocho. The best 'meal deal'? El Posito's MoD lunch.
The Port was just awakening - some places looking sad and neglected - others refreshed and ready to go. I'm sure when we come back in June everything will be in tip- top condition.
Not too sure about the square though - I'll reserve judgment for the time being. It doesn't seem obvious what they are intending to have it look like when the work is finished.
Reassuringly though, José’s notice in Bonys announces 'Open at 1837'. The more things change, the more things stay the same (or something!).
Hotel La
Singala has been a faultless resting place, cheerful helpful staff and excellent quality of accommodation. Well executed refurbishments producing pleasing change. Rather like the changes to the public areas of the Illa d’Or.
Our decision earlier this year to also book visits in June and September has been confirmed as 'a good idea' by our short break this week.
PP is a top place to holiday!
p.s. The Swiss couple staying at Singala came to us at breakfast this morning, anxious to share their discovery of a fantastic local restaurant. They had found it from a mention in a National Geographic article.
We agreed with them that El Posito was excellent!
