Default My Restaurant Choices 2011

Just returned from “eating around Puerto Pollensa” and these are my preferences:
1. La Llonja
My new favourite this year, last year this wouldn’t have been my top choice. We enjoyed 2 excellent meals here this year where the food and service (attentive but unobtrusive) were second to none. The location is perfect for relaxing and enjoying a perfect meal.

2. Stay
Last year’s favourite. This year although we had excellent food on both occasions, the second time we visited (no the Friday) things were a little chaotic; we had to ask for our wine several times and had nearly finished our starters by the time it came. Having said that the staff were excellent and I love the fact the owner maintains a “hands on” approach, no matter how busy and never fails to get around everyone to ask if they are enjoying their food.

3. Trio
This place is so underrated, but their menu of the day is such good value - where else can you get a 3 course meal for 2 including a botle of wine, water, bread and olives for 38 euros. Their salmon and prawn salad was my favourite starter of the holiday. We always come here on the first night of the holiday and are never disappointed. Would visit more than once, but there are too many other choices out there.

4. Maxim
Someone previously mentioned that it’s a lot better out of season and I agree. 4 years ago we visited in May and this was our favourite restaurant, we ate here 4 times. Sad I know, but the menu has lots of lovely choices and it has a lovely interior to eat in under the threat of rain! This year we really enjoyed ourselves again and I finally had the Thai green curry I’ve been meaning to have for years!

5. Guru
Great food from this little restaurant as always, although it does take a while to come. We highly recommend the sea bream and the pork wrapped in bacon.

Lots of debate on the top 5 with 6 people pushing for their favourites, therefore I have aggregated the scores as follows:

1. IRU
2. El Posito
3. Stay
4. Citrus
5. O'Lume

The problem (?) we have is that we are spoilt for choice with the excellent selection of restaurants. No doubt our top 5 will change next year.

Almost the end of July so as they stand at the moment (not forgetting probably the busiest time to come for voting in August):

1st. Stay - 68 points.
2nd. O'Lume - 52 points.
3rd. El Posito - 28 points.
4th. Bellavista Pension - 26 points.
Joint 5th. Los Zarzales - 18 points.
Joint 5th. La Lonja - 18 points.

Please keep voting during July, August & September. Getting very interesting.

My wife and I have visited PP over a dozen times. IMO the top 5.
La Goleta, Great Service and fantastic food at a fair price, Martin and Elke are top hosts. Staff are very attentive.

Tangos. As above.
Tiberius in the square, faultless.
Brismarine oppsite the Marina. Great food and service.
Can Josep

Default Best 5 Restaurant's in PP 2011 (IYO)

My wife and I went to Pollensa from July 29th to August 4th 2011. We only ate at restaurants on 5 evenings, and in our opinion only 3 of them were worth points. Therefore we vote as follows:

1st O'Lume - This restaurant is fantastic and we wish we had eaten there on our first night rather than the last. We would certainly have gone back.
2nd Stay
3rd Codfather (If that is classed as a restuarant)

Just got back from a 3 week stay. We went out to eat at least once most days. However, most of our favourite meals were in the Pollensa area rather than in the port.

I therefore have only one nomination for best restaurant in PP. Is that allowed? If so then my vote goes to:

(1) Hostal Bahia - finest location possible (in my opinion).
Fabulous food, super service and the most wonderful views from the terrace.

Hannah, as long as they were in Puerto Pollensa you can vote for them, they don't have to be near the port. And if you only want to vote for one, fine.

Visited for a 3 night stay in early July. visited stay, and imo the food was quite average. Last year (and previous years) it was up there with the very best michelin star restaurants in uk, that said it was great service, value and a very enjoyable night.

IRU, consistent excellent food, same staff every year (good sign) and seemed much more busy. I think they are catering more for Families (more bottles of tomato sauce, less bottles of Jaume Mesquida!!)

Finally i loved Cappacino, good wine, nice glasses, tasty food, comfy seats, good cocktails, the best night of our 3 short nights.

Stayed at the Bahia and diners looked very happy below our balcony, however that restaurant will have to wait.

So

Cappacino 5
IRU 4
Stay 1

Didn't even get to have a kebab from taj and a few beers on the beach this year, although THAT restaurant would get 5!!
