I am sure La Para was opened in 1962 and I think Can Pancho was about the same time but not sure who was before them.

Would have thought Can Ferrer must be up there amongst the oldest.

Surely it has to be the restaurant at the Hotel Illa D'Or ....... or are we excuding hotel restaurants?

Actually if we are including Hotels , I think the Miramar is older than the Illa D'Or

Thats what we were discussing over the late breakfast table cd! Pretty sure you could be right if Hotels are included, but self contained restaurants are a bit difficult I think. Some of the oldest are probably now shops of some discription, so its those still left longest standing that are in the running!

Hubby thinks he has seen a stone carved date above Brisas that is pretty old.

The twice honoured conciliator has ruled Hotels out, the Miramar wins that one.

I agree the with cd that the Illa D'Or or Miramar are probably the oldest hotels with restaurants. But having just looked at Iru's web page the restaurant was founded in 1944. We have only eaten there twice (it was very expensive but lovely) and the owner told us it was the oldest in the Port. So if we are going on restaurants alone I think I win!!!!

Cumberland who is the chief adjudicator in charge?

Clearly the one who starts the thread is in charge!

Anyone know about how old Brisas or Brisas Marina is - I always get those two muddled up - the one next to IRU.

Ca'n Ferra celebrated their fiftieth anniversary last year. Brisas, Iru and Cactud next to Iru were there in 1971, but that's only 40 years ago.

I would love it to be C'an Ferra. It's certainly not the best restaurant in the Port but you will never get ripped off there. I've been going there on and off since the mid 1980s and I've always walked (or maybe staggered) out of there thinking I've had a decent evening. It is a very iconic Pto Pollensa place I think.
