Default Restaurant Discussion ;)

After a great response to the thread from last year, I have decided to start this one up again, though making it top 5 instead of top 3 like last time. It's simple, keep it to 5 choices only, which have to be in Puerto Pollensa. Best as number 1 and so on, with a scoring system of 5 points for first place, 4 for second, 3 for third, 2 for fourth & 1 for fifth.

This can be another good ongoing thread, well done mwc.
What about also putting in a few catagories per restaurant too, with a 1 -5 mark with 3 obviously being average. Perhaps;
1) Service, 2) Value for money, 3) Quality of food, 4) Location, 5) Atmosphere.

These may change from person to person even, and season to season.

Belladonna, not a bad idea, though I would like to keep it simple as people for some reason elaborate on the rules. Like I said the only rules are as follows: You can ONLY vote on your top FIVE restaurants in a 1 to 5 order & they MUST be within PUERTO POLLENSA. Any not done by these rules will not be scored. Can't make it any more simple than that. Thank's

This thread will always be of interest but should be entitled "THE FIVE MOST POPULAR RESTAURANTS IN P.P." and NOT the five "TOP" restaurants.
a.) Not all forum members go in all restaurants (almost impossible in P.P. dozens of them)
b.) What might be 'TOP' to some is definately not 'TOP' to others.
c.) Many people 'shun' what one may call the Top Restaurants due entirely to cost, especially if they have families and/or are on a budget. Others spend wildly.
d.) Some 'shun' quality establishments due to inverted snobbery.
I do fully realise that some of the smaller establishments can give very good value for money and that being 'flash' or being 'expensive' does not make a good/top restaurant. Good service and cleanliness is also very important and in P.P. the sea/mountain views can be important to some as well; both by day and by night.
So do realise this is a list of 'MOST POPULAR RESTAURANTS' and not necessarily 'THE TOP' ones.
What is good for the 'goose' is not always good for the 'gander'.
"I wish you all good eating, good service and conviviality in P.P. for 2011, enjoy yourselves".

You'll have seen that I have now renamed this thread as I do think that 'popular' is a more appropriate title and we all know that different places suit different people at different times for all sorts of reasons.

As this thread has been restarted for 2011, please can you hold back voting until you have actually eaten out during 2011. Thanks

I was wondering how so many restaurants could have been visited in the last 5 days!
Pescadore, I agree with your comments, hence my suggestions about putting in catagories too. It just gives an idea of the difference of opinion within the same restaurant.
I look forward to this thread - perhaps another restaurant could be named "Odd ball" - the strangest restaurant you have been to!

As 'mwc' suggests, keep it simple numbering your favourites 1 to 5.
Additionally as 'Bella' intimates, we could put our own 'varied' comments underneath.
A little or a lot depending on the individual.
Bella's "Odd Ball" could be interesting..... but don't upset anybody too much, it could be a bit 'dodgy'. Especially if it was a particular favourite of someone else.
You 'local expats' must know where the "Odd Balls" are!!!

Why do the simplest ideas suddenly become so complicated?

I should have thought that a reflective "most popular restaurants of 2010" would be very interesting to us all and useful to new visitors. Trip reports during the year would then give indiviudual updates, and a "most popular restaurants of 2011" would round the year off nicely.

Maybe that's too simple..............

Oh my lord, best, most popular, whatever, not been funny or anything but it is just a simple thread. Having to change the heading of it etc. Some of you really need to get out more. Talk about political correctness gone mad.

LOL mwc! Its a slow month! Anything that gets peoples interest going can't be bad! It will all sort itself out when people actually manage to get over and actually get to the restaurants.

Belladonna, agree. Smiddy, totally agree, Burger King is 'popular' with a lot of visitors but I would not like to think people would miss out on the 'best' restaurants because some people think the original title of my thread (which by the way run for a good number of months last year without the title being a problem to anyone) is not politically correct. So I would like admin to restore my original title please as I first posted it so people can vote and we can have a fair poll on what each individual classes as THEIR 'best' restaurant.
