Default Simbads and Pub Imperial

Evening all

Some really bad rumours have reached my ears in the last few days. I have been told that Simbads and the Pub Imperial are closing down!!

Can anyone out there confirm or deny this?

I can possibly see how this could happen to the Pub which has been quiet for the last two or three seasons, but not Simbads. Although Maria told us in July that it was a quiet year she always seemed busy. If it is true then it would be gret shame for the resort and I for one shall miss them both!

a couple of week ago we noticed Pub Imperial had a sign up saying the lease was for sale
we were shocked it has been there forever it seems
I am sure Inspector Sparky can find out what is happening

Last year we had the most terrible and expensive meal at sinbads. We were tricked into ordering something which we were led to believe was on the special menu. It turned out not to be and a meal for two came to over 120 euros for 2 courses which were not good and a glass of wine each. Disgusting! We then saw a cockroach walking towards the kitchen and as for that poor parrot! Maria can be charming when she is biting your ear and flirting to get custom but believe me so different when you try to complain. Goodbye sinbads perhaps one too many customers where dissatified. I'm not at all sad to say goodbye!

I have to agree Kym and I know many will not - but I have now had too many bad meals at Simbad and the behaviour of the hostess is now verging on crude - the worrying thing with both of these places and the rents demanded is they too could well become blocks of flats

Well.......some quite strong feelings going on here. To be honest we generally only lunched at Simbads then only if we were on the beach in that area. The last time we did I found myself having to defend the war in Afganistan to a spanish waiter because of the rude comments he made about my Help for Heroes wrist band! Saying that, it was a popular place and love it or hate it it's got to be better than another block of apartments.
I hope the pub can keep going in some form. Another rumour was that Tony the waiter was thinking about taking it on......
Now that would be entertaining!

Kym - we had similar experience last month. We only went in there as it was starting to rain and we didnt feel like risking a soaking! OH thought he had ordered the special as well but it wasnt. The only good thing I can say about the meal is that I had an enormous glass of wine for less than 2 euros! And thank goodness didnt see a cockroach The service was grumpy and 'take it or leave it' - we will definitely 'leave it' if its still open next time

Add my name to the list of people not in the fan club. Food mediocre and service poor. A smile costs nothing.

Adios

Can't comment on Simbads as never eaten there. We did however stay in the Villa that they own and had a few cockroaches there - we only stayed the once!
Re: Pub Imperial. I can't say I am a fan. I know that some love it but I just find it embarassing. I have posted before about the Elvis impersonator (didn't like) and that guy that climbs all over the place. Sorry but not my idea of fun.

However, I do know that a lot of people like it and if they toned it down then I would much rather see the Pub than another plastic bar (ie Sports/Irish Bars) or it pulled down to build some more apartments.

The people in chare of PP still aren't learning are they?

Cocoa07 "The people in charge of P.P. still aren't learning, are they".

If a business has a bad year, if staff are rude, if meals are not good, if a bar leaves something to be desired, if 'Elvis' is bad..... What can the "people in charge" do ????
Enlighten us!!

Discuss!

Have to agree on Simbads..terrible food and famed for overcharging..and Maria is not well liked by a lot of the locals either

Bar Imperial...not our cup of tea as they say but it does the trick for some...have to admit to having a few laughs while passing by on the way home at night...the best laugh we had in October was "Elvis" singing Tom Jones songs....hilarious

We too had a ghastly and very overpriced meal at Simbads. Maria to be honest was a pain in the neck and wouldn't leave my husband alone lol ( she only had to ask and he could have been all hers! lol) seriously - the arms around the neck and palm of hand rubbed up the side of his face it was seriously embarrassing. Although he tried to laugh it off I could see the steam being to show itself - he was not amused! We were also overcharged by quite a hefty amount and when challenged Maria changed big time. No more smiles, I'm afraid. Not a good experience and certainly not one to be repeated.
As for more blocks of apartments - Not many buyers around so may be a risk for a developer. Although I suppose the position will help sell. I suppose we will have to wait to see what happens. Not sad to see Simbads go though!

Simbads certainly not a favourite of ours either, although most nights in the summer months it seems to be very busy....somebody must like it!!!

Their position I think. Also it has a very small frontage so just a few people make the place look busy. Perhaps first timers too - I wonder how many return!
