Default Tapas

Hi

Never been to Puerto Pollensa before will be arriving a week on Monday. Had a look around this forum but can't really find any mention of where traditional tapas might be available.

Anybody any ideas?

thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Do read the post on restaurant FAQs at the the top of this forum, page down & you'll find "Who does the best Tapas?" - there have been several discussions as there are plenty of places that do Tapas - traditional & not so traditional!

Default re Tapas

Hi all and welcome to Newcomer. And if Newcomer comes in to the chat room how should you be addressed??

Ok, back to tapas.

I've done it again folks, been eating a lot of tapas, hmnnn, not even in Palma never mind PP, but away on the Spanish Main. Refer to my confession earlier in the year, yep, we've sinned again and been away.

Anyway, discovered this place, Lizarran, in Port Cambrils. Sounds like the sort of shop on a Scottish island selling knitwear and so on! Couldn't be more wrong.:lol

On display lots and lots of absol super cold tapas, but hot if you wanted it, and loads of stuff I'd never seen before, some very simple tapas with a wooden skewer pinning it to the thinly sliced bread and more elaborate ones with a coloured plastic stick, eg, smoked salmon stuffed with egg mayo.

Pick what you want from the bar get a drink then at the end they count up your sticks and charge you accordingly. Dead easy and great fun! Trial for your honesty!:eek
And into the pink or yellow plastic, that bit more expensive!

Tried this place a couple of times in the week, then on a Sunday, heaving with locals, who all knew the score !!

Full hot MDD's served too ,choice of 5 starters , 5 mains and 4 postres, plus wine, but menus in Catalan and even Basque, OMG!

Have a look at

www.lizarran.com

and www.spanishstuff.co.uk/cataluny.htm

Iin the last one there is a reference in Barcelona Zoo to the only albino gorilla in captivity, by name of Snowy, with a photo.

Suitable apologies to a good mate of mine!

And on that same site, examples of Catalan food, all were served up in our hotel, during our stay.

For the basic tapa 1.20 , for the better one, 1.95 and a glass of very acceptable wine 1.60.

Mdd 13.50, but no , we stuck with the tapas!!:eek

Porto, always smiling!
