Default Eating Out October 2007

I have just returned from the Port and thought I would post a thread on the eateries we frequented. I should declare that we didn't get to eat out as much as we usually would as the weather was awful and put us off going out! Also we were getting air con installed in our apartment so we basically sat around for two days - thought Confort did an excellent job at a very reasonable price.

The best two venues were La Font de Gall and Ca N'Olesa.

We ate in Ca N'Olesa on the Saturday night. My husband, son and me had pizzas, which, as usual, were the best pizzas we had ever tasted. I could simply eat the crusts alone they taste so good. My parents had lamb and chicken in sauces - both dishes met with their approval. We had two desserts between four - apple pie & their delicious profiteroles. I can't remember the price but it was about euro 90 for 5 of us including a bottle of wine and drinks.

My parents babysat the following Tuesday so my husband and I headed to La Font de Gall. As usual reliably good. My husband had the pate to start with, the only fault was the portion size, it would have served four people! I had the goats cheese tart which was gorgeous. For mains hubby had salmon on a bed of noodles and I had peppers stuffed with spicy couscous and sweet chilli sauce - both were excellent. For pudding hubby had poached pears and I had the orange & lemon cheesecake - I can never look beyond the cheesecake at La Font de Gall. Again I can't remember the price but think it was about euro 90 including a bottle of wine and a few beers.

Other places we visited in the Port itself were:

Tiberi were we all had pasta. My son who is three discovered that he really liked carbonara that night and talked about it for the rest of the holiday! So much so that we decided to take him back on the Tuesday before we left not realising that it was their day off! We ended up in Don Corleone’s on the front, which was cheap and cheerful but reliable. However we ended up having to get my son’s carbonara packaged up to take home as the rain arrived and we had to make a dash for home.

Nicos - again good reliable food.

Cafe L'illa - I have developed a soft spot for the p'am oli here. It is very simple but sometimes that is good when you are eating out so much.

We also had lunch one day at Torre Playa. This was the first time we had eaten there and it was very nice with excellent waiter service. I had pasta with pesto and walnuts and hubby had lasagne.

Cant wait to return after Christmas!

Great review!

We like Ca N'Olesa very much and normally eat there once or twice during our holiday. We also had a delicious brunch at la Font del Gall.

Jane

PS...I've included your reviews in the Restaurant Reference thread.
