Default L'Oliveras

You can always count on PP to come up with the right weather for the occasion and Haloween night was no exception. Wet, wild and windy as BLT and I crossed the square in order to meet friends for a dinner date. Few kids struggling to hold onto their witches hats but pretty low key compared with the enormous commercial highjacking that you find in the good old US of A. Eventually hit L'Oliveras with the old brolly blown inside out and what a welcoming place . This place has opened this year and not having a chance to try during the season seemed like the perfect opportunity. It's run by a couple of identical twin brothers, who I believe for many years were at the Yacht Club but have decided to branch out on their own. Very impressive, friendly service , welcoming and the food very well cooked by one of the brothers wives. Mid priced by PP standards but good value and quite a comprehensive menu. Usual Mallorquian starters but BLT's filet of steak cooked with salt at the tableside on the little BBQ was comparable with the same dish at Siller for about 10 Euros less. I had pork medallions in mustard sauce which were absolutely delicious.

Place got pretty busy later on with locals and they have a nice area at the back which, in season, would be great to eat in although on this particularly night " al fresco" would only be for the brave and fool hardy.

Seems to be a really good addition to the PP restaurant scene and from the welcome, food and service I would recommend to everyone. I understand they may stay open all winter depending on the demand and with Tango closing , Maxims and La Piazza closing following new year for a couple of months ( Claudia is with child !!!) won't be too many places for us in the bleak mid winter .

In my opinion, they deserve our support.

Anyone any other views ??

Great review, Bonsylad! I hope there's more to come!

Where exactly is L'Oliveras? Sounds like one for us to try next year!

Jane

PS - Forgot to say I've included your review in the RR thread.

Jane,

It's frontline, walk past BurgerKing and the Kebab place on opposite corner and it's just on the right.

Feels like a really good addition to the choices we have.

Take care

BonysLad

p.s. managed to grab a nice drink with Smiddy and Mrs Smiddy in Posito the night before !!!!

Default L`oliveras

We included L`oliveras in a post re our eating out in November. We only had lunch there on one occasion, but it was excellent. As you say the owners are gentlemen and my husband felt very much at home as one of the men is a keen football fanand has visited UK several times for matches .I am happy to hear good reports about evening meals and shall add it to our list for 5 may, as we stay very close to the restaurant.Looking forward to it,
Tanya
