Snowy,

Rolly was performing a couple of weeks ago in the chorus of the old time musical held in the Cultural Bar raising funds for the old folks home. Jolly good night and they all worked so hard .

BonysLad

Looks like premiership footie , with a bit of luck for us again !!!!

I loved the video clip - went into Imperial a few times this year but never seen him in full swing like that before - hilarious

Oh Boy! :rolleyes without intending to start a messy debate about the virtues/ peril of smoking again...:rolleyes we ventured into Pub Imperial this September thinking it seemed fun...well we'd heard the truly DREADFUL Elvis impersonator after strolling out of Stay the night before ...so we thought we'd get in closer to really enjoy the "ambiance."

Ok - the truth is it was windy and decidedly cooler and I needed a coffee to warm me up. So we sat inside and after just taking a sip of my coffee/ amaretto combo (and admittedly they were very nice too) and settling in the shabby but comfy surroundings...in trooped a bus load of smokers I realised quickly that the sign I thought said "no smoking" actually said "you CAN smoke here" Bizarre in todays times we thought! Never seen hubby finish a pint so fast and ...we won't be back.

Non-smokers - you aren't missing anything anyway...tacky with a capital T. Smokers - enjoy! The nicotined walls go some way to hide the 80s decor.

Not commenting on the smoking as I have made my feelings clear about this subject elsewhere.
However I totally agree about this place - it really is just so wrong!
We sat open mouthed having a meal in Bona Cepa seeing the 'Freddy Mercury' alike swinging from the canopy - why? One of the staff said, at least you only have to see this once - it's every night for us!! I think that when it is in full swing, this is a place that you either love or hate.

We did have one drink there last year early on in the evening, but I won't be going back. Nice to sit out and look out over the port but give me Pozo's for a nice drink any day of the week!

I agree it is just so wrong! :eek

Last winter (or possibly the one before) they spent ages digging the floor up and we all thought great they're tarting up the place a bit. No such luck when we returned a couple of months later it appeared exactly the same not even the awful table and chairs had been replaced :rolleyes

Phew! what a relief - thought I was just being a bit of a snob. Not our kind of place at all. Strangely stuck in 1981 (and that's the last time it was decorated too!) :lol
