Unhappy Stay, La Fortalessa, Bahia.

main meals: BAHIA last Sunday, STAY last Friday, and La FORTALESSA tonight, Sunday.
FORTALESSA - shoulder of Lamb/ loin of pork. mussels/gazpacio starters. Ice cream, walnuts and honey dessert, coffee and 16 e bottle wine and sparkling water--65 euros.
STAY; meal of the day 33.10e each: usual high class event -immaculate service and attention to detail - plenty of good people watching. Noted from the a'la'carte menu that shoulder of lamb was 17e.
BAHIA: John dory x2 @24e and 'shoulder of lamb' x2 @18e (according to the menu) plus 2x children’s menu = 140e.
Best experience = Stay. Best meal = La Fortalessa - all good but shoulder of lamb @ 13e, exquisite, service top notch.
Booby prize – Bahia. Advertised shoulder of lamb was an ankle of lamb, little meat, dry, been under the warming lamp for a couple of days. John Dory @24e, was big but poorly cooked – one over done, one underdone, tasteless. Suggestion that this is the Mallorcan way of cooking it, didn’t wash. Note that the service was faultless – just that the food was abysmal. On discreetly complaining (we have stopped at the Bahia on 3 previous occasions with no problem and have a high regard for the staff there) we were given a bottle of champagne and 24e (a John Dory) knocked off the bill. We still had to pay 115e for the pleasure of a very poor meal/experience. Extremely disappointing from one of the top hotel groups in the Port.
Walked past the Bahia on Saturday night, and noted (from a customer’s plate) that they were still serving ankle of lamb rather than the shoulder that was listed on the menu. Mrs Clinkham (a lawyer) is insisting that I fire off an email complaint to Bahia head office alleging misrepresentation. If in the UK, then Trading Standards may well have been the next stop.

La Fortalessa was the best all round eating experience. Top quality food, genuine friendly service. Huge value for money.

Bahai adevertises the best fish in the Port, I also would question that statement after a very average meal last week, again service vey good.

We too were dissapointed by the food at Bahia, had been meaning to go for a while and finally got there in August, baby squid starter which was 12 or 15 euros was soggy and the squid had not been cleaned so full of jelly and ink ,ordered Paella as it always looks good ,it was average not as good as Pescadores.
Nice setting and good service but not too happy with the food, some other dishes looked ok so we might give it another go next year.
Hoping to do a full trip report from August if I get time!
Glad Fortelesa is still good ,not been for 2 years and am gutted I missed again this year.
