Default RESTAURANTS OPEN IN JANUARY

We are visiting the Port from 5 Jan to 9 Feb. Does anyone know which restaurants are open during January as I gather most close Dec and Jan?

Marilyn, ( Great name , were you named after the icon? . I've a sister called Marilyn though she had always been a brunette !!!).

To answer your question, restaurants open might be a bit thin on the ground ( see my post on L'oliveras below) however you are likely to find the following open,

Stay, Trio , Neptuno , Pescalinos I think probably Centrica as well as I remember eating there on one of the bonfire nights ( You'll have great fun at St Anthoni see my posting under Fiestas ).

A lot of the smaller local places might be open at lunchtime only.

Hope this helps

Default RESTAURANTS OPEN IN JANUARY

Thanks Bonyslad. That's good news - particularly Trio as we are staying in Mendez Nunez. I hope that O Lume might also be open as they told me they were all winter.

We are really looking forward to San Anthoni. It sounds a great couple of days.

Just wonder if you know if anything is open on 6th January (3 Kings) or does everything shut as in the UK?

Hi marilyn

We too will be in PP from the 5th to the 9th Jan

Last year after watching the Three Kings procession and having a few drinks at The Corner Bar we had a great meal in Maxims. Great food and atmosphere...half way through the meal the entire restaurant abandoned their meals to rush into the square to watch the fireworks

Are there any other forum members going to be in PP for the Three Kings?

Hi debz1,

We hopefully should arrive in PP at around 16.00 on the 5th January.

Please could you inform us of the time scale of the procession, fireworks etc as it would a shame if we missed it....thanks.

Derek.

I think you will find that Maxims will be closed at Three Kings. Claudia told me last week that they were planning on shutting both Maxims and La Piazza following new years eve for a couple of months as she is expecting. She gleefully told me it's another boy .

As far as timings are concerned if I can recall the procession is usually 6.30 ish on the eve of Three Kings ( 5th) followed quite quickly by the fireworks in the square. Can anyone concur ?

Thanks for the confirmation of the approximate time of the festival on the 5th January.

It's our first experience of a festival in PP and should hopefully, be a pleasant introduction for our children's new life and adventure living in Puerto Pollenca....then they start at their new school's first thing, Monday morning.

Catalan dictionary ready for the first letter's brought home :eek :lol

Hi pollensa,

Many thanks for your best wishes. I will report back and keep those who may be interested up-to-date with event's.

The home work has been done, everything that we can think of has been addressed and now we can't wait to begin the adventure.

I know there will be a few occasions when you might question what you are doing, but we are a close, supportive family and anyway, i've been around the block enough times to handle most situation's

Finally, i know this is in the wrong section, but a big thank you to all those who took the time to help us with your advice on this forum site. Next post will be in the Living & Working section......honest !

Derek & familia.

Marilyn, Debs

Any update on restaurants likely to be open the night of the Three Kings procession ( 5th) ?

Looking out of the window here have decided to upsticks and spend January in PP to catch three kings and St Anthoni again. Usually great fun.

I'm relying on bella to find and book somewhere to eat on the 5th Jan as she gets to PP before me.

We'll probablly all end up in the same restaurant

Default RESTAURANTS IN JAN

Debs,

Thanks, Will try for Maxims in case it's open and it is near the action but if not will probably head round to L'Oliveras one of our newer favourites after the foreworks cos they told me they were going to try to keep open during the whole winter and they deserve, in my opinion, support.

Navidad Feliz

p.s. Our Richard played a blinder at lunchtime !!!!!
