Default Restaurants offering evening set menus 2010

Can we start a new thread for 2010? I found the other one for 2009 really useful. I believe the last years thread said to include Puerto Pollensa, Pollensa (town) and CSV.

Also, I believe that you had to have eaten there or seen the menu in order to post the information.

Do you think the restaurants put their prices up from May for the Summer season?

Hi Joanne, i can only speak from my experience of the restaurants that i use, and that is, their prices stay the same.
Of course there may be some places that do have winter/summer prices but i don't know of any.

Marina Cafe put its prices up a few weeks ago . A lot of the locals who supported it through the winter are not best pleased.

In the past we have found that some restaurants either drop their MDD in Summer, put the price up or reduce it e.g. remove the wine option. So please do state when & where you either ate at or saw the menu & if you notice any changes do post here. Thanks!

Evening 3 course set Menu at The Pines Cafe Bar (just off the Pine Walk) is only 10€ from 6.30pm until 9.30pm which changes each evening, Great value for money as well as a full menu available.

Would be interested to know what the meals are like in here

Havn't been in for about 6 years and it has changed hands many times since then

Was put off by being served frozen lasagne .................... and I know it was frozen because the middle was still solid. In face everything we were served seemed as though it was pre prepared and reheated in a microwave ....... a bit like bad british pub grub

I have always wondered why no one seems to be able to make a go of this place and would love it to suceed as it is well placed ................ which is why I am so interested in the type and quality of food served

Hi Mearsy

Great idea for updated 2010 postings. Things change quickly.

Only a suggestion but I have noticed on some travel forums. (Not just PP forums) that the question is slghtly more defined as to what is best deal.

Things can all depend on the members of your group. Such as will the kids
like it, is it local food, UK type food who likes what etc. Where might suit a
family of 4 might not be where you would take your partner for a nice meal.
Thats all down to taste & your travel companions etc.

The obvious one is of course your budget. What may seem great VFM to
one person can still be pricey to the next. MDD`s vary from €10-€30 approx
and can both be just as good for different reasons.

How about some €/€€/€€€/€€€€ ratings

Not a great MDD man myself as usually full after starter & main so my included desert is a bit of a waste. Pretty sure though the standard of
the food from the normal menu will be reflected in most cases around town.

I am currently involved in some extensive research of PP`s restaurants
(All donations welcome) and will pay more attention to the MDD options
available.

Cheers

W

Thanks W, some food for thought there!

I'm more of a main and a dessert type girl. I have been known to check out the dessert menu before the main on more than one occassion. So maybe the MDD isn't for me. I suppose it depends on what is on offer and whether it is tempting enough. It certainly gives the impression of VFM.

I will investigate this further next week and post my findings on this fine thread.

Default pp bargains

just had our annual trip to pp. As usual had our last night in Tribeca. As part of a promo they have slashed there prices for this summer. All starters and desserts are 5euros and all mains are 10euros. The food was exactly, as good as it has been every other year so they are not dishing out cheap food cos it is cheap. I had a feta, pear and beetroot salad to start, a great Entrecote steak with pepper sauce and roast spuds (no chips-hoorah) then a chocolate fondant for dessert. Wife had Fresh ricotta ravioli, Spiced cod and braised leeks followed by an individual tart tatin. With wine, and coffees came to 53 euros. Most places would charge 80-90 for this. Great value. Worth a visit.
