Trip feedback

Following all the good advise received on the forum, I thought it only right to share some feedback of our trip. We have been to PP twice now and our experiences would not have been the same without the great people on this forum :) ....sorry if it rambles a bit!

I've tried to recall rough prices which would typically also have included a beer, glass of wine and bottle of water

Arrived on Friday, staying in Llenaire. Dinner at Tangos. Starters for myself was Calamari, was OK. Don' recall what the wife had. For mains we both had the Suckling Pig served on Tumbet. Pig was Fantastic ! No deserts as we were tired, baby was restless and we'd been up since 3am. : €55

Los Faroles: Starters were the Pigmy Squid for me and Tumbet for the Wife. The Tumbet was the biggest portion for a starter i've ever seen served (and best I had during the trip). I kept the tumbet on the table to have with my mains, and even then couldn't finish it. don't remember what the desert was, but didn't enjoy it. Wifes main was chicken in pepper sauce which was fine. €50

Ikebana: reviews on this site have been mixed but i thought we'd give it a try. Menu was limited, especially for starters. I had a prawn cocktail salad which for €10 ish was nice enough but consisted of a plate of lettuce and prawns which could have been from a frozen bag from the supermarket. Again for main courses, not a huge amount of choice but again my Leg of Lamb was fine, served with some good veg. Wife's comments similar to mine for her mixed Salad and Steak. Lemon Meringue for desert was delicious. Overall, was OK, but was relatively expensive when i compare quality and location.

El Posito: Again, first visit based purely on the review. I thought this place was great. I had peppers stuffed with seafood, wife had mallorcan soup. Both starters were great. Both had Cod for mains, wife 'mallorcan' style, mine was 'el posito'. Again, both fantastic. I had a creme brulee and coffee to finish. Great Food, great hosts! €60

Los Zarzarles: El posito was going to be hard to top, but wow! This restaurant is superb. Wife's tomato soup was like no other soup i've tasted and my starter of King Prawns with Sobrasoda sausage was up there in the best dishes i've EVER eaten. For mains we both had suckling pig and again the quality was superb. Lechona served with mixed seasonal veg and a potato fondant. Caramelised apple crepes and ice cream with coffee to finish and i thought i was in heaven. €65

Stay: I'll keep this one short as i'm still in two minds about this. I didn't particularly like the food. Everything was very, very creamy. Deserts however were fantastic. What this place does have is setting and the very, very special level of service and quality touches like the glasses and settings. €70

Tolo's: We went to Tolo's twice last year and went again. Very disappointed. My grilled sardines were covered in garlic which wasn't specified on the menu and my main of Chicken stuffed with prawns and mushrooms was just a soft mess. Wifes veg soup was good, steak was OK. Really surprised as I thought their seak last year was great. We didn't stay for desert. €55

Los Zarzarles: So good we went back again. Starters the same. For my main course i tried their anniversary dish which was cod served with Sobrasoda sausage and honey. Was in two minds as i don't like my food too sweet. This was verging on the too sweet for my liking, but the quality of the cooking on the cod etc was great. Creme Brulee for desert. €65

Tangos: After the success of the first night we went back again. I have to admit i don't recall what i had for starters but went for the Lechona on Tumbet again for mains. Wife had asparagus and a simple roast chicken which was lovely. Fantastic Lemon and Chocolate Mousse shared for desert. Another great meal with a great view. €60

Hotel Galeon: Last night and couldn't be bothered to walk into the Marina. We stayed here last year but never ate at the restaurant. Both had vegetable soup to start which was light and fresh and then shared Chateaubriand to share. Wife was mixed on it (too rare for her). I thought it was a decent steak. Served with great chips and grilled veg. For desert we shared some fresh fruit and some chocolate cake which i hated but the wife liked. Verdict: OK but expensive. €75

Lunchtimes were mixed. Late morning coffee followed by spanish omelette outside the Miramar was a winner. Tapas in Tiberi was frankly disgusting. Best Pizza by far was the Torre Playa Restaurant. Never seen this mentioned. Its the first building on the left past the canal on the was into Port. Had tapas here last year and always leave impressed (Not had an evening meal tho') Centric pizza also good although too heavy for me.

I didn't partake in the other thread about top three restaurants as i didn't feel suitably qualified, but i'll put mine up here now.

1. Los Zarzarles (by far)
2. El Posito
3. Tangos (Stay may sneak in given a return visit)

Great review danm!

Have to totally agree on Los Z ...hits the spot everytime:)

Mind you Stay is also one of my best haunts .....We always go for MDD as in my opinion its fantastic value. As you say service ,setting and the extra little touches are hard to beat.
