Default TV in Bars and Restaurants

Over the last few years I have noticed that many bars, cafes, and restaurants in PP have fitted widescreen TV's. Some are placed discreetly at the back/behind the bar, others are much more prominent.

Do you think this is the thin edge of the wedge, and puts a stop to a good discussion or is it an added benefit and brings in custom when times are hard.

Adios

Dave

I don't like to see tv's in bars/restaurants, it definitely stops conversation, but having said that i do feel it is better to watch some sporting events with other people as you then have atmosphere. Other than that if i really want to watch other programs i would stay home.
But it is the norm these days both in the UK and here in PP .

It's avery Spanish thing, often the tv is going at one end of the bar(sometimes without sound) and music is playing at the other. Maybe why the Mallorcans shout so much when they're just having a chat

Ask the guy from Bonys. Everytime I go by there is some English soap opera or Emglish music channel blaring out! Why?

Yes I know what Ray means - actually I remember when we sold our apartment and were looking for a villa we decided against a certain property as every time we went there seemed to be a loud argument going on next door. The agent told us they were just having a conversation!!
(agent sales talk - i wonder?)
we decided against the property - if that was a conversation - WHAT did a row sound like???
