We have just returned from our only visit to Pollensa this year. We normally go twice but like lots of other Pollensa fans defected earlier in the year elsewhere couldn't resist fantastic deal in cyprus. Would just like to add in Pollensas' defence villa and car half the price but supermarkets we found very expensive meals out varied but could easily spend 100 euros for 2 . Anyway back to Pollensa! Majority vote saw us heading to an old favorite of ours Font del Gall. Haggis. goats cheese tart and salmon pancake for starters disapointed with salmon thing as pancake turned out to be pitta bread! Very dry. For mains Pork with crispy crackling which was very good,i had chicken stuffed with haggis delicious H had pork which he enjoyed. Lemon and orange cheese cake for desert i love this one very zesty. 2 gin and tonics, 1 beer bottle of house white 92 euros. We ate inside as it was threatening rain service was excellent.
After torrential rain thunder and lightening like i've never seen! Were confined to villa as Torrent de Sant Jordi had flooded the road that serviced villa. Following day river back to a trickle!
O Lume next. Have eaten here once before, would not have gone had it not been for the reviews on this forum. This was our daughters first visit though, didn't look very impressed on entrance. That soon changed. Having a senior moment here can't recall what everyone ate. i had veg lasagne for starters which was lovely if a little large, eyes bigger than belly although that was getting larger by the day!! monkfish and clam casserole, clams finished so were replaced with prawns, it was a delight. I read the review earlier about this dish swimming in oil, i have to say the sauce that i had wasn't oily at all it was thick tomatoey and delicious, remember no one had room for desert but we all agreed the food was first rate complimentary drinks and chocs finished us off. Bottle of house white 2 gin and tonics 1 beer 90 odd euros. Well worth it!! Will be trying out the new venue when we return next year.
il giardino. Hadn't been here for a couple of years. 2 smoked salmon and pastry starters 1 bruschetta. Salmon very ordinary for 10.50, D enjoyed bruschetta, mains were fillet steak which D said was excellent chicken curry for husband nice. rabbit in mustard sauce, ok but i always think rabbit should fall off the bone, this was a bit tough. Shared a tiramisu which was the best bit of the meal. Usual 2 G and Ts, 1 beer ,house white, 132euros! The most expensive meal we had all week and the one we all agreed was bottom of our list for meal of the week. There is no disputing a great spot for soaking up the atmosphere and watching the world go by. But will stick to morning coffee and a sticky bun in future at il giardino.
Josefs. Aother place we probably wouldn't have tried We loved this place! Mussels, calamari can't remember what hubby had but all good 2 shoulder of lamb which melted in the mouth served with baked potato and veg D had chicken which she said was lovely and moist. Absolutely stuffed! No puds. House white, usual drinks 90 odd euros, a definite for our next trip.
For our last night we decided to try another new one to us El Temple. Our last night would normally be reserved for Can Costa alas no more!! Back to the Temple. This was up the hill from Font Del Gall on the left. We chose to eat in the courtyard. Very brave considering the amount of mozzis about last week!! The place is very rustic as is the owner/waiter! very helpful as menu not as straight forward as most. The food is lovely 2 calamri 1 garlic chicken to start all fab. 1 steak in pepper sauce 1 chicken curry in honey husband really liked that one 1 garlic chicken no puds. usual drinks, house white 80euros very reasonable will be going again. Did
ask if they were open over winter seem to think they are.
