Hi all
We got back from PP last week and this is a review of restaurants we visited. All were very quiet - in fact once or twice we were practically the only ones there!
Es Moli - Pollensa Town
Excellent as always! I had the Lomo con Col and OH has Mallorcan cod. With wine, water and coffe the bill was 43 eruros.
El Brio - Pollensa town - just below Font De Gall (?)
We had the best meal of all and also the worst one here!
The first time we went, we had the Menu del dia at 11euros. It was the best meal we have had anywhere in a long time. Starter of a tuna dish and a Caprese Salad (tomatoes and mozzarell drizzled with basil oil) The main course of Italian steak, and Chicken with salted mushrooms etc. And dessert and coffee. This meal was superb and not what we were expecting as a MdD. The restaurant had only been opened a month and was run by a young Uruguayan lad and his girlfriend and the chef was from Milan. When we went back 5 days later - he told us the chef had left to go to another restuarant! What a disappointment! The meal was just about ok - indifferent starter and plain (bit dry) grilled chicken. (The lad was doing the cooking) I do hope they get another good chef soon as they are a nice friendly couple and it would be a shame to see them 'go under'. I just wondered if Font De Gall realised what a good chef they had and head-hunted him!
Tango - Sa Vostra)
Great as ever. Went here twice - Saturday very very busy but they managed to find us a table despite not booking. Excellent MdD at about 16euros - Peppered steak one time but can't remember the next - but it was good!!
Piccolo Forno - Pollensa town
Best pizza I've had outside of Italy. OH had the Mushroom Risotto and said it was the best he'd ever had! We went back for our 'last night meal' but did not realise they were closed on Mondays. Also noticed there was an
hotel next door that did a MdD at 9 euros - might be worth a try sometime.
La Piazza - PP main square
Again good pizze - but not as good as Piccolo Forno! Noticed they did a MdD as well - think it was about 9 euros - but not certain.
Anyway - hope I've given prospective visitors some food for thought!
Looking forward to October now!
Cheers
Rosie
Do try El Brio - I will be so interested to see if they get their chef problems sorted out for the summer - they deserve it.
