Default In my Easter Bonnet !!!

Well, you always try and make Sunday's a little bit different when you're here for any length of time. For us, it generally means a leisurely lunch rather than dinner. So Easter day dawns with not a cloud in the sky at 6.30 a.m. Half an hour later it's a whole different ballgame as rain clouds fill the sky and the wind gets up. Sun fights to breakthrough all morning but it's a losing battle cos it's gonna be that kinda day.

Ashamed to say miss Easter Mass even though the church is packed to the gunnels but in deference to the day put on our finest for a paseo pre lunch on the seafront.

The best laid plans of mice & men ....... cos five minutes after leaving home run into a couple of long since seen friends and a drinking session at the Cultural moves up the pecking order !!!! So it's three o'clock when we stumble into Ca n'Andreu for meal of the day. Place packed with locals including Mr Whippy ( the little local ice cream guy ) and his family. " Are we too late ? " we enquire, but no problem, as we welcomed to an empty table.

Know I've reviewed this place before but pleased to report this year just as good and well worth a post again. Good honest home cooked food, three courses with wine and water for 15 euros per head and staff really welcoming and friendly. Starters of prawn cocktail ( very generous helpings of jumbo prawns), followed by lamb cutlets accompanied with a Mallorquian gravy/sauce. Finished with creme brulee and coffee ( OK , I'll own up a free perk to locals !!! ) and we waqlk out at 4.45 p.m. having been very well fed.

Know it's not everyone's cup of tea but in these cash stretched days these sorts of places deserve to survive. So another thumbs up from me for 2009.

Looking out of the window it's raining steadily and I bet it's no warmer than the UK !!!!!

Bank Holiday weekend's, eh !!!!!!!

Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but they don't know what they're missing.

I'm glad standards are being maintained at Ca'n Andreu because I think it's a very nice place to eat, and far removes from some places that simply cater for "us Brits". Long may it continue. We'll certainly be there in June.
