Default Old Town Tapas

I am coming over for the wine fair this weekend with a colleague and wanted some suggestions of where to get good tapas in the old town.

Although we have been coming to PP for decades we usually eat in the port rather than having to drive to Pollensa.

Suggestions and directions would be appreciated.

GG

A lovely place in the old town we tried a couple of weeks ago is La Taverna del Temple (think I've got the name right!) which is on the road heading up the hill from the small square with the cockerel statue. It's a beautiful setting in an old building with stone walls and I understand it has a garden (though when we were there it was absolutely freezing outside so we didn't even look!) They serve tapas in the evening only - or they did that week - but at lunchtime they cooked us a couple of really delicious steaks. The tapas menu looked very impressive and judging by the quality of the steaks I'm sure they'd be good - I know it's had excellent reviews here in the past. The guy who runs it was really friendly and helpful and was certainly enthusiastic about the food he cooks - always a good sign!

I can definitely recommend El Temple - we had a fantastic evening there last August - just type the name of the restaurant in the search function and it should bring up my review.

The food was lovely and the man in charge couldn't have been friendlier. I would highly recommend!

I'd really like to try El Temple but am not too familiar with the old town. Could anyone give me directions on how to get there, from the main square. Thanks in advance.

Takes a deep breath and counts to 10!

Virtually all the restaurants in PP and the old town are listed on the Restaurant Directions thread - it's a sticky at the top of the main Restaurant page just above this thread.

Please, please, please check there before asking for directions. I added Cellar Es Moli yesterday and if there are any missing just let me know and I will add them. You can find the thread here:

Thanks
Jane

Unfortunately, the chef has left El Brio to go to another restaurant - hopefully they will get another good one! It's a real shame as the fool was excellent

We went to El Brio last week ............. excellent.

I'd forgotten that I had read about it

We had just walked up and down the steps and despite it only being 6.30pm ...... just couldn't face going home and changing for dinner and then going out again ......... but had all worked up an appetite as we had been at formentor all day and only eaten a sandwich for lunch.

Then we spotted El Brio .......... MDD 13.50 euros excluding drinks

8 of us had the MDD , between us we covered all the options ........... no one complained

From memory

Starter choices were

Grilled Prawn
Garlic Prawns
3 types of mushroom in a butter sauce with a few bits of pepper
Tomato and Mozzarella
somethingelse that consisted of a salad of shredded serano ham; apple and salady stuff

Mains

Fillet steak ( yet Fillet on a MDD )
Grilled Chicken with gorgenzola
Sole
Can;t reember the others

All served with sliced potatoes and mix of really well cooked vegetables

Again all more than delighted , though some of the larger men in our party said they thought they could have done with a larger portion ............ but I think that says more about them than the restaurant

Deserts

3 scoops of ice cream
An Apple
cheesecake
Pannecotta with rasberry coulis

All good

Also came with bread ; olives ; ali oli

Great friendly service from a lovelly waitress and drink prices vey reasonable ( too many places can offer a value MDD and then rip you off for drinks )

I think this place is a find
