Default Restaurant Ses Torres near Ariany

I thought I would add this here despite it being at the other side of the island as I posted this in Best Places to visit about a trip to Randa!! Sorry if its in the wrong place.

This is a buffet restaurant where you can eat and drink as much as you like!! for 9Euros a head between lunch and 9pm??

Restaurant Ses Torres is on the roundabout at the junction of the MA3340 to Petra and MA 3310/3341 to Ariany.

We took at route via Randa, but to go direct you would head for Alcudia and then towards Can Pickafort on the MA12. At the roundabout at the end of Albufera, turn right on the MA3431 and immediately at the next roundabout take the MA 3410 and continue to the roundabout at Santa Margalida.

Turn left on the MA 3340. The restaurant is at the roundabout at the junction with MA3310/3341 to Ariany. Take care where you park as there were some massive wagons trying to squeeze between the cars parked by the entrance to the restaurant.

You pay as you enter. The waitress asked in Spanish if we wanted coffee, if so it is an extra euro! Otherwise its 9 euros per head. You can sit anywhere but we chose the corner as it was quite noisy with lots of families and workmen seated near the food!! There was wine on the tables, water both still and fizzy. There was soft drinks in chilled cabinets and at the far end pint glasses with a help yourself pump!! (get partners to drive!!)

There was a massive paella pan at the starters end and lots of pasta and meatballs etc too many to remember, I just tried a bit of everything, not really knowing what it was. further along were mains of meat an veg, further on were sweets, lots of cakes, creme caramels etc. further along was in Ice cream fridge. and spare cutlery.

There was also a bar but I think that may have been extra.

There was also another room near the entrance which was full which had tablecloths, not sure if that was more expensive.

A girl came around regularly to take away plates, we kept our cutlery to save us finding new.

A good experience but I dint usually eat as much mid day as in the evenings so may have to stay in one evening to prepare!! It may not be everyones cup of tea but I tried lots of things that I probably would not order as a norm in case I did not like it.

Thanks very much Gordon.

I think this is the right place to post it - it's difficult to know where to put it. We do alternate between lunches & evening meals especially out of season - I can't eat a big lunch when it's too hot. We will definitely have a go & fitting this into our 4 night (4 meals!) trip at the end of March.

Will let you know how we get on.

Well we finally got there today. It only takes 30-40 mins from PP & was great fun. Here's the location http://maps.google.com & very easy to find. Just make for Ca'n Picafort, turn right at the beginning to Santa Margalida then follow signs to Petra. It's on the left of a roundabout a few kilometres on.

We arrived at about 12:30 so no big trucks yet in the car park yet but quite a few old boys at the bar & a couple sitting at one of the many tables. Peak time appeared to be about 1:15 when it was pretty busy but not completely full. People were still arriving when we left after 2.

You buy your ticket at the till: 9 E for the meal alone, 9.50 con cafe (solo/cortado), 10 con cafe con leche or carajillo - keep it for your coffee. We found a table at the far end, away from the bar. Tables are set with wine, gaseosa (lemonade) & water. Keep your cutlery between courses when plates are cleared. All is as described above. I tried paella & fidea as hot starter (there were also soups), cold salads & a great selection of mains including frito, what I think was lomo con col & a lovely stew. There was also lechona, fish & various others. Dessers were fruit, pastries, 'pudding' (mmm!), ice creams etc. Some people returned several times their plates piled high - so no need to be shy. At the end - when the waitress judges you've had enough - she asks if you want coffee & takes your ticket.

Am still feeling pretty full but definitely worth a trip out at least once per visit!

Sounds great and excellent value.. The nice thing about Buffet type of meals is that you can try different dishes and if you don't like ,then you can have something else. Might give it a try when next out.

Certainly sounds interesting. I would prefer to go in a group as I get pretty flustered with all the locals around, but will definately consider it.

This is a place which is basic but a must experience especially when three coachloads of spanish pensioners arrive--- oh the noise!. Our grandkids love it and its a good way to get them to try Mallorquin cooking.
