Default Bonanca Bar

Hi again Gers.

Heard anything more about Bonanca ? A friend was speaking to Rafa and they hoped to have things finalised one way or the other by the start of November.

Cheers

belter,

gave miguel a ring over weekend there, deal done for another 2 years only

juan and his partner manoli have had enough though and are opening up a restauraunt off the square for next season, to the left of the church somewhere not too sure exactly where

fran and manolo will be helping out more during the busy summer months in the bonanza

Default Restaurants visited in October

Thanks for the info Gers.

Might be over in the next month or two again so hope to bump into them. Interesting venture for Juan and Manoli. Hope it works out ok.

juan over the past couple of years has indicated to me that he would like to do something on his own on a larger scale in his later years while at the same time taking things at a slower pace

having been only once in mid august it is really busy at the bonanza and the brothers really work for their money also the kitchen is tiny, wouldnt be me i can assure you

imo they are both good cooks and we are looking forward to eating in their new venture

p.s. if you are going over soon you will find miguel in mulligans most weekends, particularly if celtic are playing

Thumbs up Update re bonanca bar

For those of you who are followers of the 'Bonanca Brothers' the latest confirmed news is that they will NOT be continuing at the Bonanca after all.

The GOOD NEWS is that Miguel & Rafa have already opened a new venture!!
Located next door to the Naciente so ideal for pre or post dinner drinks combined with an excellent meal next door.
According to reports the opening night (and subsequent ones) was a great success. (No surprise there!)

Having known the boys for more years than I care to count I know they will be just as successful in this new venture as they have been in their past ones and I for one can't wait to visit them on my next trip.

Good luck boys!

That's great news

We used to love it when Rafa and Miguel had Aniara's, then Miguel was in Coconuts for a while with Manolo. Both bars long gone so it will be good to have a new one in the port again!

I understood they were keeping Bonanza and the new bar. It will be a great success and in a good central position for drinks. good luck to them both.

Default Bonanca Bar

If they're keeping both that's great news. Quite a challenge though. Anyone confirm ? Is the new place what was Batucada ?

Cheers

Mick

Yes the new place was Batucada and they are definitely NOT keeping the Bonanza but are looking for a second bar which Manolo and Frank can run.

sorry not been able to update over the past few weeks had no internet access at home and our works firewall wont let me log on.

spoke to miguel about a fortnight ago and he informed me that the 2 year deal for the lease fell through on the bonanza at a very late stage.

the guy who owns it needs to free up some cash and has decided to sell.

it will be going on the market for offers around 1 million euro if anyone interested

seems steep to me

Thanks for the info, Gers. I hope someone takes it on before June!!! Although it won't be the same without Miguel and his brothers.

Default La Batucada Bar

Just a brief report to say that Rafa has already breathed new life into the Batucada bar. We had a great welcome when we went there on Tuesday this week. There were lots of locals in there too and a great atmosphere.
Rafa said that he will be open every night so that's good news for anyone looking for a place for a late night cap in PP.
