Default Eats - a summary

Firstly, my thanks to all those other members who have previously posted their eating experiences. It’s made for great reading. Moreover, it helped us decide where we definitely wanted to eat and where we definitely didn’t. There were also a number of places on our “long list” that we went to check out and decided we either didn’t like the look of the menu, the place or whatever. Even so, there were still so many good looking places that we ate out several more times than we’d originally planned.

As a general point, it was disappointing how few places do wine in half bottles or decent stuff by the glass. I don’t drink alcohol these days and my companion in life normally only wants a glass, perhaps two, with dinner. It meant most nights, we left most of a full bottle which works out as quite expensive “per glass” (if you see what I mean).

My reviews on the following places are posted on the thread linked to in the “sticky” Restaurant Reference Thread – L’Aup, Clivia, L’Olivera, Stay, Restaurant Siller, La Cantina @ La Llonja (posted on the main Llonja thread), Ca N’Olesa, La Posada d’Ariant, O Lume, Eu Centro and the Corb Mari

I’ve posted new review threads on meals at Celler Es Moli, the restaurant at the Golf Club and Piccolo Forno

Best meal of the two weeks, by a long way, was at the Restaurant Jardin in Port d’Alcudia and my review is attached to a previous thread in the Alcudia sub-forum. As is a review of dinner at L’Arca d’en Peter in Alcudia.

John

Hi John

Thank you so much for all your great reviews which I've thoroughly enjoyed reading. I was meant to do 100 things this afternoon but reading your posts has been much more enjoyable!

Thanks again

Not now they're not.

Moderators prefer them as stand alone threads which is absolutely fine.

You must have been in PP at the same time as us but our paths wouldn't have crossed as your eating was more upmarket than ours! Enjoyed reading your eating reviews though, you're obviously an expert in quality food.

Did you find time to do anything else?

I've the benefit of being retired - although my companion in life still has to work to keep me in the manner to which I'm accustomed.

Eating out is a hobby - we're currently working our way through the places within an hour's drive of home that are in the Good Food Guide. We were out sort of your way in May - Columbine in Buxton (wouldnt be in rush to go back).

John

Thanks John for the informative and interesting reviews.

We are going out for a week soon ( Within a short drive of Pollenca Town ) and it gives us food for thought on where to try ( or perhaps equally importantly where not to try).

Good, concise reviews and appreciated the info on the individual costs.
