Thumbs down Maxim's poor service

We ate here for the first (and last) time and ordered bread olives and alioli and our main course. The bread arrived immediatly as did the vino. Within minutes of this having only managed one nibble of bread , our main course arrived. I cannot believe that 5 different main courses could be prepared so quickly without being precooked and just microwaved. In addition I think it is wrong to be served the main course while still nibbling the bread, olives etc. The food was very average anyway, but it was also the most expensive meal in 2 weeks! To add insult to injury my daughter also had the trots for the next 2 days after eating there, although i accept that may be a coincidence. The best restaurant we visited (several times) was O' Lume, the food and service was outstanding., also enjoyed ca'n ferrer

Hi foodlover and welcome to the Forum!

Your comments re Maxims are interesting as they mirror the experiences of quite a few members.

In eleven years of visiting I've only ever eaten once in Maxims, the food at the time was ok, a few years back now, but there was just something that I didn't fancy.

Glad to hear you enjoyed O'Lume.

Look forward to more posts from you.

Default Maxims - Great service, great meal

Portofan,

It's a funny old world. along with friends, we tried maxims (at the end of May).

We had a great time service was excellent and food was good/great.

However, we walked out of one of our favorite places GURU because of non existant service!

All places can have a bad night, and, some average places can have the occassional blinder, you pay your money and take your chance I supose.

CHEERS,

JIMBO

Spot on Jimbo!!

We too have always had friendly service in Maxims and the food has always been great. I do appreciate however that by choice we eat quite late at around 9.30, so the rush of families with young children is over and we can enjoy a leisurely meal.

In England you would usually have to book a restaurant, and the more popular ones often have two sittings in the evening. It must be a nightmare for the restaurants in PP in the summer months..and unfortunately at the end of the day it's 'bums on seats'!

For the first time we didn't go to either Maxims or La Piazza after experiencing poor service time after time. The last straw was a pizza at La Piazza which had translucent prawns on it as they were still partly raw. Claudia wouldn't accept that they weren't cooked so my mum wouldn't pay - fair deal!!

They were still mad busy this year but there are better, more friendly and efficient places in my opinion.

Sorry, when we went to Maxim's in June we were still rushed through the meal and they did not require the table again as there was no queue .

I think it is just their policy . Cannot understand it myself and will not go back.
