Mamma Mia !!! - Piccolo Forno

Our Mallorquian friends have been badgering us for ages to try the italian foid at Piccolo Forno ( Opposite Monument restaurant just off the main road in Pollensa). So finding ourselves in the old town yesterday evening popped into try it. Too hot to sit inside with the genuine pizza oven firing away and with the pizza chef shovelling them in on a great spade so we sat outside on the terrace. Mainly pizzas and pastas but quite a range of italian meat and fish dishes as well.

What a find, absolutely gobsmacked not to have seen this mentioned on the forum. Fabulous, Fabulous food and soooooooooo reasonable. The freshish ingredients you can imagine just cooked to order.

I challenge any of you to show me a better pizza than I had last night and if you can I'll pick up the tab. So generous with the toppings it was unbelievable. Pasta and Pizza dishes all in the range 6- 10 euros. Bonyladette enjoyed a fantastic fresh taglitelle dish.

Absolutely fantastic, and a regular for us from now on whilst we are here.

La Piazza, Little Italy,Eola, Manduca etc etc eat your hearts out !!!!!

BLE

Thanks for the review.

I have often noticed this restaurant as we often park our car opposite it. Must give it a try.

Piccolo Forno

Even out of season this place can be packed with locals.
The pizzas are really good and as B-L-E says it's such value for money.

I have friends who come out late in the season bringing 6 kids....guess where the half-dozen always want to go for "proper pizza"?

Oh well.....that's a great feature of this forum...you can't keep anything as a secret!!!!

Cheers!

Frito

Fantastic food and prices :)

The first time we visited was a few years ago when the owner (and his wife) of the Villa we had rented took us for a night out, we had a great time in Pollensa that night.

Piccolo Forno is not in the town centre so most tourists dont find it as most are drawn to the square.

Great tasting vegetarian Lasagne keeps my wife happy and I like the Peppered chicken, and just such good prices, even the wine is reasonable.

Deserts are perfect too.

Best Pizza for sure.

For those that dont know where to find it here is a link to a google map:

As Frito says, its busy out of season when the tourist restaurants are all closed up for the winter with chairs stacked on the tables.... Says it all really.

When we visited in February even on weekdays it was just about full.

We sat outside on the covered terrace in February :D

Cant wait until our next visit in September and then February.

Only downside is it can be a bit smoky inside as they allow people to smoke inside. Thats why we sit outside usually.

Mark.

Son of Piccolo Forno is now fully operational and in the original premises, with at least two of the original staff. The service is first class as is the food. Thankfully the pizzas have been reduced in price after the previous hype which seemed to have put off some would-be clients. We have already enjoyed the food, wine and ambiance. Sadly I have forgotten its new name but shall be there again next month when I return to the island again and will re-learn its new name. Dine
