Default In need of a "Special occasion" restaurant

Hi. First post on the board.

We're staying in Pollensa in September (near the golf course) - first visit for several years. I've been reading through the threads and recognise some of the restaurants (like Stay). Others are new, of course. Great reads. So, I reckon I'll have plenty of ideas for 2 weeks eating.

But what I need now is a recommendation for somewhere really, really good for an "occasion". It doesnt have to have a Michelin star or the like (I think they are all in Palma or Deia) but it does have to be that sort of standard. And, yes, I know it'll be expensive. Happy to travel some miles for this, but not to the other side of the island (unless no nearer option). Any thoughts?

John

Smile "Special Occasion" Restaurant.

If you are willing to travel to just outside Santa Maria (very quick with the motorway), I suggest:

Moli des Torrent

Ctra. de Bunyola, n 75 (on the PM 202)

Tel: 971 140503

Expensive, but not over the top.
Superb food.
Good service.
A place with a bit of atmosphere for the special occasion.

I hope this is useful.

Frito.

Clivia in Pollensa. It is fantastic and would be my definite choice.

For a special occasion it has to be C'an Costa in Pollensa.

Thanks for the replies so far. Keep em' coming.

Carl - Mrs H had already been thinking about Reads (and I see it actually does have a Michelin star), but I' d been hoping to find somewhere a bit closer, if possible. That said, I guess it's not too far a drive and it does look like an absolutely cracking "tasting menu". And, wow, I thought I'd eaten some expensive meals in the UK this year but those prices are eye-watering.

Hi John.

Check out Skyblue for more options.

http://www.skybluemallorca.com/public/department35.cfm

Mind you Reads does look a bit "Special", I wouldn't worry about the price of the menu, last time we dined at a Michelin resteraunt we had a glass of wine each to complement every 2 or 3 courses of the tasting menu and the wine bill came to more than the food!!!.

Ta for that, Carl. I'm off to have a nosy round Skyblue.

And, yeah, we keep thinking about a trip up the M6 to L'Enclume. We're on a bit of a foodie trip round the north west - Good Food Guide recommended places within a hour's drive of North Cheshire. Cartmel is just outside that so will have to wait. Spotted your location - tried to get in at the Arkle for a birthday meal next in a couple of weeks - but its shut till the autumn.
