Not Another Chinese !!!!!

Hi Guys

Back in the port since the weekend. Surprised to see the Restaurant La Vall signs being taken down today.

Another Chinese restaurant I'm reliably informed

BonysLad :(:(

I thought I recognised the La Vall name, was it run by a tough looking, but very friendly lady from Southern Spain? I am sure I ate nice fast lunches in there a few times?

BLE!

Glad to see you're back and able to give us first hand reports.:D

Another Chinese? No surprise there, but will it prosper? Doubt it.

La Vall is too far out of the way and few visitors venture up that way, unless of course from Siller and heading to the square.

We've seen leaseholders change over the years, used to be a local, Antonio, with a lovely Belgian wife, they went back to Belgium, then it was run by a guy who had no English at all, but always plenty of locals in , lunchtime and evening.

Too far from the square and seafront, visitors don't go there.

If I had never wandered about that part of town a few years ago I'd never have even discovered El Posito, that was years before I even knew the Forum existed.

Looking forward to more updates!!;)

NEW updates on the chinese!

Hola Amigos,
The new Chinese restaurant has put its signs up with the new name being
"La Villa" they are still decorating at the moment and havent put the menus up yet, however while in Alcudia the other day I strolled past a Chinese restaurant with the same name and logo, so I picked up a menu there and it looked reasonable.

There also was a website too:

Español:www.restaurantechinolavilla.com
or in English (Translated): http://www.translendium.net:8080/hom...DCFDD9CC10FA94

Muchas Gracias!
The Captain

Sorry, I am not up on this but it is actually a cantonese restaurant - does that differ much from a chinese??? or does it just sound a bit posher???

Captain,

You appear to have it right, as per the undernoted quote from the "alcudiapollensa" blog:

"And just on Puerto Pollensa. There will, in the next couple of weeks, be a new Chinese restaurant opening. Another Chinese, you ask? Well yes, except this one will bring with it an already strong reputation, as Ray from La Villa in Puerto Alcúdia has taken over what was La Vall (a remarkable piece of closely named serendipity, one feels) and will be bringing the 15 years of La Villa experience to Puerto Pollensa, from where people already go to Alcúdia in order to sample the La Villa menu. Well, from 8 July, they will not need to. And I think I may have mentioned this before, but La Villa is the only Chinese I know locally that gets itself listed in the a la carte league; it has also, unlike many Alcúdia Chinese restaurants, not had to stoop to the "buffet libre" form of promotion. Price is indeed important, but it is not everything."

The link is here: http://alcudiapollensa.blogspot.com/...6/man-ray.html

BTW, having recently discovered this blog, I am finding it more and more compulsive reading - even if I don't always have the faintest idea what he is going on about in reference to local politics, etc. But it certainly gives another view of the island and of PP / alcudia in particular.
