Default Can Ferrą

A sad development as longtime mainstay of the Port Can Ferrą and its overspill/expansion space opposite are both up To Let for new occupants.

Oh it would be very sad if they are closing their doors for good.

Fingers crossed that maybe the family is just looking for premises in the port that would allow them to operate from just one place - and not two like they currently have.

Can't believe this. From what we understand the premises are owned by Can Ferra. I hope they reconsider.

I am baffled . I walked round there earlier this evening and saw no 'to let' signs. I saw Toni's sister yesterday and she made no mention of changes.

I posted four photos I took at 4.55pm today of the Se Traspasa (To Let) signs inside the window of both the main Can Ferrą building and inside the window of the overspill/expansion building opposite on the “I Love Puerto Pollensa” Facebook Group earlier today.

I don’t seem to be able to share a link to that here but the photos should be accessible from my shared drive here:-

1 January 2023 Update:- I’ve walked past both again today and the Se Traspasa (To Let) signs remain up in both buildings.

I should have gone to Specsavers!

How I missed all those signs is a mystery but in mitigation it was new year's eve, I had had a few and it was dark.

Sad news. Had many excellent meals there over the last 30 odd years. Martin Tony Ghuillem. Happy memories.

I'm not giving up hope that Can Ferrar will still be around. I wish Tony and all the family best wishes in whatever they do.

We have spoken to a family member who unfortunately has confirmed that Can Ferrar had closed permanently. It was not clear to me if it was simply the premises that were being leased out or potential to transfer business to a third party.

One of the key reasons for Tony's decision has been the continuing problem of recruiting and keeping staff which meant that family members were working incredibly long hours.

This is a sad day for the port and for the thousands of customers both local and visitors who have enjoyed good local cooking at reasonable prices.

Thank you for the update. Sorry to hear this as there are not many family run restaurants remaining. We have been regulars since 1985. We have lots of others on our list old and new but loved the atmosphere at Can Ferrar.

So gutted about this. Finally got back to PP in October after a while. We ate there 5 times in 10 days - still as good as ever. Always used to be our first meal stop over many years. Hopefully Tony and family will pop up somewhere else. Just wish them all well.

I texted Tony last week and got a rather enigmatic reply which could be read in different ways as to future plans.
