Default Trip Report 6-22 October (part 2)

There’s also a few other shops we regularly visit in Pollença that are worth mentioning.

Eroski is always the first visit when we arrive to stock up on groceries then it’s around the corner to Agromart for fresh fruit and veg – this shop has changed a little since our visit with the addition of a fish counter. I wish we had a similar shop back home. The selection of produce is amazing. Then we visit Eu Serral (Tony’s) for meats. This is another glory hole of a shop that we love looking around. We see some negative reviews online complaining about the grumpy owner but that’s never been our experience.

Finally Sol y Tierra and Shobha Diane.

Sol y Tierra for linen shirts and balsamic vinegars (yes, quite a mix). I almost didn’t get my shirts as the shop was never open when we passed by. Speaking to the owner one Sunday when it was open he said they had really struggled to get staff post Covid which seems to a common theme.

We also always visit the jewellers Shobha Diane – usually to buy Christmas presents! After 20 years in the same shop she’s been given notice to quit at the end of Oct as the building owner wants to renovate it. She’s not 100% sure where she will re-open but has an option on a property on the steps. Hopefully we can find her when we visit next year.

There’s quite a few others that we never got to this year. Sisters is a little cafe near Eroski but it was never open when we passed. We also wanted to try Trencadora again as it we’d heard some good reviews from friends but ran out of time. Cellar El Moli for its €15.50 menu of the day. Eu Centro – it was never open when we passed. Finally Sadanar and La Merceria – just because we’d never tried them. Next year.

I’ve rambled on for way too long but hopefully the above is useful to prospective Pollença visitors. Fell free to ask any questions. We had a fabulous trip and October 2023 cannot come around fast enough.

What an interesting report…..thank you. We stayed in Pollensa in November 2017, our first time in the old town after years in the Port. Enjoyed visiting different restaurants and bars. This was the trip that persuaded us to buy our apartment in the Port, something we’ve never regretted. The town has changed very much over the years, for the better I think. As a regular, Malcolm, you will know better than me.

I was asked by a fellow visitor this trip what was the biggest change I'd seen over the years.

I'll never forget the very first time we visited the island, picking up a little Fiat Panda hire car, with no air conditioning, and then driving for what seemed like hours to get to CSV. So the biggest change was definitely the building of the motorways from the airport to Sa Pobla!
