It's not official yet but word is the bars/restaurants will be allowed to re-open from 2nd March, however only on terraces and until mid afternoon.

It has been announced that the bars and restaurants may open the terraces until 5:00 p.m. from March 2 but with 50% capacity.

Still sad that’s there’s no Little Italy now Has anyone seen if the restaurant is opening up under the new management yet?

I'm not a doom - monger, but it occurs to me that the buildings next to Little Italy (towards town) were recently demolished and replaced by new apartments. This sort of development has been going on in various locations along the Pine Walk over recent years. I wonder if there are plans to redevelop the Little Italy site and adjacent buildings on the Illa d'dor side of the site in a similar way?

Just a thought.

p.s. need to know who to speak to to put my name down in the waiting list for a new apartment.

From what I have heard Juan still owns the freehold of Little Italy and it will be re-opened by a relative of his (I think maybe a nephew).

You wouldn't imagine that anyone would give up that Freehold easily....its only a matter of time before something opens up there.

Whilst perhaps 'Vultures' would be the wrong word, there will be a line of people eyeing up the best vacant spots to snap up a great deal and open a new business, when things start opening back up. Timing will be everything!

Sad but true. The unfortunate business owners, forced by the pandemic and close their established businesses will be readily replaced by a new set of investors once things open up again.

I think that can be said about PP even pre pandemic. Every time a restaurant shut it didn't take long for the site to be filled again.
