Default Coffee In PP

Hi.
This might seem like a strange question but here goes anyway...
When in Spain, I have always found there to be somewhat of an aftertaste to the coffee. I assumed from the milk but never knew why.
I found out recently that it’s more than likely because cafes use UHT milk rather than fresh milk.
Does anyone know of cafes that use fresh milk rather than UHT for cortados etc?
Gran Cafe 1919 was the only place I didn’t experience any aftertaste when in PP last year.
Thanks for any advice.

Galwayman,

With all due respect, and to quote your own words, this is a strange question at this precise moment in time..

I think it better being asked when all our favourite and nice places are open again, and they will be after these most tragic and difficult times..

Kind regards..

I normally find that the milk just tastes a bit 'off', The bitter taste could be because they use water that is too hot and effectively burn the coffee.

Hi Galwayman, I do understand your question, and we've experimented with various types of coffee, milk, and coffee and milk preparation methods. At present we are using an Illy ground bean 100% arabica in a stove top coffee maker. Microwave the semi skimmed milk, and froth it if you can.
It's not PP, but it's close enough for us. keep safe

I've actually always preferred coffee made with UHT milk - can't bear it in tea though. We have bought fresh milk when in PP but find it goes off so quickly - which I assume is why restaurants don't use it.

I have discovered that a large brandy or two with the coffee seems to solve the problem. Not particular problem to Spain as have also deduced that a large Grappa in Italy has the same effect. In France, Calvados....Scotland..etc.
Why do I bother with the coffee!

Especially a large snifter of Suau brandy is highly recommended to be added to that coffee in PP.

I dont think I have seen it in Majorca but when in Lanzarote we always buy UHT milk called Anita and it tastes just like fresh milk We always search around for it when we arrive

If you can buy it in Majorca let us know where If we can ever get back one day that is !

A strange question deserves a strange answer. Try adding a pinch of salt. My wife claims it works. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't confirm she is right but I'm not going to tell her she is wrong!

You will find adding a dash or three of AMAZON to your coffee does improve the taste, your conversation power, your ability to speak perfect
Spanish but with a slight slur.It also gives you a singing voice confidence to sing in any local bar. Made in Mallorca and enjoyed where ever you can find it.
