The owner may well change the name back, but that's where any resemblance to the old place starts and finishes.

I lost count over the years how many times I saw him in there as a customer when I was there so he new perfectly well what the set up was.

However, it became obvious that when he took over his mantra was Customers in, customers out.

My wife amd I loved the old place with a passion, but like everything else in life, things change and you can't put your foot in the same river twice.

The amount of times we went in there for a drink early evening to decide where we'd go for a meal and then get so comfortable in those wicker chairs that we'd end up staying all night.

On a lighter note, I well remember one evening where we were outside by the front door where he used to have a menu on a metal music stand.

My wife got up to go to the toilet, hooked her foot on the bottom of it and went flat on the ground, ripping her trouser leg for good measure.

The look of horror on peoples faces was a picture and it fell silent untill they saw me roaring with laughter ( when I k new she was okay) then they all joined in.

I can still hear some ones shout of " I'll have a bottle of what she's been drinking".

Happy days !

Always spent first and last nights there. Chilled bottle of wine and lovely food. What more could you want
