Default Review - Osteria no. 15 - Disappointing

We had dinner at Osteria no.15 a couple of nights ago, it was busy but there were a few empty tables.

It normally has great reviews but we were really disappointed. The service wasn’t great, the staff all looked like teenagers and seemed more interested in talking to each other than dealing with customers and there was no sense of warmth that is the norm in Mallorca.

The food wasn’t good either. Spaghetti for the kids was OK but nothing special. My main course of pappardelle with prawns in tomato sauce was terrible, the taste was OK but there were bits of prawn shell everywhere. I couldn’t eat a single bite without having to pick bits of shell from my teeth. I quickly gave up.

When the staff collected the plates they didn’t bat an eyelid at a dish that’s barely been touched, just took it away and asked if we wanted deserts.

Maybe they were having an off night but we certainly won’t be back

That particular restaurant seems to change hands quite regularly.

Last time we went, we were disappointed as well.

I would have done if there were any staff around to talk to. Even when they cleared the plates it was a hit and run by a trio of kids - grab the plates and run away before we could say anything

We also had a poor dining experience here a couple of years ago. Booked a table well in advance and was seated in the worst possible table, no warm welcome from the owner either and really bland food. A shame really , given the great location on the square. Won't return.

Such a shame you didn't enjoy it, we went here in May, a large party 13 of us and had a wonderful meal. We have eaten here quite a few times over the years and whilst some nights it hasn't been amazing on the whole we have enjoyed the food service and atmosphere. hopefully your experience was just a one off as looking forward to eating here again in August..

According to a local contact, it remains in the same hands as it has always been.

Funny how one bad experience can put you off. We used to love this restaurant but last summer we had the weakest gins I’ve ever experienced and, trying the set menu for the first time, felt it was very, very average. Not been back. Went to Centric three times this summer......absolutely excellent food and service.

It hasn't ever changed hands.

I've had a few meals at Osteria since it opened but it's not on my must do list. I would describe the food I've had as ok ..but nothing wowed me and the service can be sporadic.

The service really lets them down. Having a bunch of your waiters/waitresses isn’t a problem as long as they want to be doing what they’re doing.

Disinterested staff damages your business.

The manager/manageress has changed a few times. I have to say that for the price I nearly always find it a bit underwhelming and the service can be poor.
