Default In praise of C'an Ferra

Can Ferra has been a family run restaurant in Puerto Pollensa since 1953 and we try to go there at least once on each visit.
We were quite late going there last night - around 10pm - but were welcomed and seated on a lovely table just outside the main restaurant. Just the welcome sea breeze flowing along the Calle de Sant Pere made it just the best place to eat.

We enjoyed mixed paella (3 of us) and a delicious whole sole 'a la plancha' which came with chips and salad. We'd all had aperitives, and with bread, olives and alioli, and a large bottle of water and a bottle of house white wine, the whole bill came to 76 euros. Great value and great service too!
The paella was delicious and full of different meats and seafood. There was so much we ended taking a large portion of it home.

We noticed that the staff from Can Ferra seem to be using part of what used to be the Pescaderia next door. It's been closed for many years and up for sale for quite some time so it was nice to see it being put to some use.

Thanks for that Lorenzo. I have been going there since 1985, always incredibly good value and, in my experience, always a warm welcome.

I've been going to Can Ferra since the 70s. Probably my favourite restaurant in the port. Always a warm welcome and good value food. Toni and I have long chats when he is not flat out during the high season. I also bumped into Guillem a couple weeks ago. He is well.

I am another huge fan of Can Ferra and have known Toni and his dad, Marti for many years. We visit P.P. at different times of year and love the cosiness of being inside in the cooler times, eating bowls of steaming fish stew and then when its warmer sitting in the 'alley'. Although the town seems quieter this year, you still have to fight for a table at peak times.

Toni showed us around the old fish shop last week - the interior is covered in traditional hand made tiles and all the original equipment has been left. Just being used as a store at present but I am sure it has great potential for Can Ferra.

Another fab meal enjoyed in Can Ferra last Friday. Fresh grilled hake for my friend & grilled sole for me, both dishes being served with a good pile of crispy potato chips, Salad & some tasty char grilled veg. Two beers, a bottle of house white & one pud came to just under 40 euros. Really great value. We were delighted to be amongst several tables offered some fresh figs to take away with us too.
We asked Toni how long he planned to stay open for this year as we always try to go there in early November. He said he wasnt sure yet, saying he'd have to see how busy it was in early November & what the weather was like.

We first visited Bodega Ca'n Ferra over 30 years ago, it was a wet evening in mid September, we entered and the place was packed, we were just about to turn to leave when Martin came over and ushered us back, a table appeared from nowhere and he shuffled everyone up and made space for us. Always very welcoming, excellent food, great service and value for money. We try to go at
least twice on each visit.
