Default Best 5 Restaurants in PP 2018

Yes it's that time again already. Rules are the same as follows:

1. You must have been to the restaurants you are voting for this year (2018).

2. You must vote on a maximum of 5 restaurants ONLY that are within PP, though you can vote for less than 5 if you wish.

3. Vote from 1st being the best & so on to 5th, NO joint decisions please just 1st to 5th.

4. Points awarded are 5 points for first, 4 points for second, 3 points for third, 2 points for fourth & 1 point for fifth.

5. We all like restaurants for very different reasons i.e food, location, atmosphere, service etc. So once you have had your final visit this year please take 2 minutes of your time to vote, but keep to the rules above as to avoid confusion & watch as the voting unfolds over the coming months.

We had two wonderful visits to PP this year and yet again we find it difficult to decide on our top 5. As always the quality of the food and service are outstanding. The results are in:

1. No 31 – Siobhan and her team have gone from strength to strength. A lot of thought has gone into each course. The selection of wines really compliments the cuisine.
2. Centric – never fails to delight, a real favourite with our family.
3. El Posito – as always a fabulous warm welcome from Tony. Lovely traditional Majorcan food. It’s also great to have a catch up with Lyn & Colin.
4. Cellar La Parra – been coming here for 15 years, delicious food at a very reasonable price. Everyone must try the Jarra de la Casa.
5. Los Faroles – beautiful fish restaurant, lovely seafront location and friendly, professional staff.

Special mentions to: Iru, Nicos and Los Faroles new sea front café/bar Les Monges.

Looking forward to our trip again next year.

Thank you for your vote, however this thread is only for PdP restaurants so unfortunately your votes for Casa Gallega and La Fonda won't count .

From our one visit this year:

As we were in a villa we did eat in more than usual so:

1. Cellar La Parra - good food and great wine! (Their Veggie Paella is excellent)
2. Stefanos - good food and friendly service
3. Sparrow - as above
4. Siurell - as above

These are the only ones we visited this time and a couple of them more than once. Had we be coming in October we would have had a lot more to add!

Here are the votes of the Conroy clan. We go to a wide range of restaurants from high end to the more simple ones. We have thought carefully about our choices and went for true value for money and excellent service this year.

1st place. Patio 49 - fantastic food, good surroundings, excellent value for money and staff make you feel special

2nd place. Iru - excellent quality of food and service. Back to its best again.

3rd place Pascalinos - treat us like family when we go in whether having just a drink or something to eat and the view is stunning.

4th place. Liberty Kitchen - always a warm welcome from everyone and well cooked food at reasonable prices.

5th place. Nicos - food is plentiful, service fast and ideal for a quick and easy meal. Ideal for a large mixed age group of us. There's something to please everyone.

Still adore our restaurants like Bahia, Little Italy, Tiberi and a new finding summer 2018 of Sol Y Mar which has been refurbished by the owners of Little Italy and become a restaurant famed for delicious grilled steaks. A must for people to try as quality of meat is superb and the Argentinian chef is fantastic to watch at work.

1st Stay
2nd Amazo
3rd Brisa Marina
4th Casa Vila
5th Zarzales

Patio@49, Centric and Pascalino's are both very good too.

How about having a vote on:
Best 2018 Places For Lunch?
Best 2018 Bars?

So many great restaurants in the Port that we are lost for choice but here are our selections

1 - Bodega Can Ferra. Been visiting here for over 20 years and we have never had a 'duff' meal.

2 - Celler La Para - similar reason as for #1 - both providing good value freshly cooked local cuisine

3. Amazo - only opened this year but creative cooking at its best

4. No. 31 - into its second year and going from strength to strength

5. Patio 49 - the new direction from the Tapas Tree has worked with a simple and innovative menu

This selection means that firm favourites like Centric, Can Josep, Ambrosia and Stay don't make the cut, which again says much about the high standards.

Default Top 5

1. El Posito
2. No 31
3. Amazo
4. Centric
5. Stay

El Posito got two visits this year we enjoyed the food so much.
Amazo was the new one for us this year and we really enjoyed the style of food here, different from the norm but in a good way.
Stay which for us was always at the top of the list fell short this time as the place has become too busy and I felt that the numbers they were cramming in definitely impacted on the quality.

Till next year

After 2 visits this year these are our top 5.

Mine,

1. RNCPP - Great food , service & setting.
2. Stay - same reasons as above but had to make a choice.
3. Zarzales - lovely food & service.
4. Centric - nice feeling about the restaurant & good food.
5. Na Ruixa - first ever visit, definitely won't be the last.

Wife's

1. RNCPP - Same as above.
2. Stay - Usually our No 1, but just edged out.
3. Na Ruixa - Great first visit, excellent food & service.
4. Zarzales - Old favourite but hadn't been for a couple of years, as good as ever.
5. Capri - Best place to be on a warm night, food not bad either.

That's it for 2018, already looking forward to 2019.

Here's our votes for 2018 following our recent visit -

1st Stay
2nd Iru
3rd Hotel Miramar (for its snack lunches)
4th C'an Punxo
5th Swing

Extra comment – for the second successive year Argos Resto (which I voted for in 2016) has missed out on getting any of my custom; again it is offering tasting-menu only; and no longer an a la carte.

With Thanks to MWC this years votes are as follows:

1. Siurell - constantly good and reasonably priced food and drinks and great service from Julie, Osmani and the team.
2. Portofino - in our opinion the best value Italian in the port.
3. IRU - new for us but the fish dishes are excellent.
4. Stay - not for the evening menu but for lunch it is fantastic and great value.
5. Los Faroles - best Paella by far.

Can't wait to try out next years restaurants for the 2019 competition!!!
