Default October half term

Hi
I've also posted on the accommodation thread but was wondering if anyone had any advice on how 'open' the port is in October half term and what the weather is like etc.
We have stayed many consecutive summers but never 'out of season' so to speak.
Any help would be appreciated. I want to get it right as it is for my 40th

Most places will still be open.

We have visited in October and lots of places are open that was not a problem at all. Lots of cyclists that time of year I thought. The weather has been fabulous for the whole week on some visits, and then we did visit one half term and it was mixed. You could sit on the beach and sun bathe but it did rain on some days. That being said it didn't bother me as I love the place!

On the last two years we have left to go back to England on 2nd and 9th November respectively and both times I've been miserable to go as people are lying on the beach in the wonderful sunshine!! As Gp1602 says, it can't be guaranteed but it's usually fine. The only other thing to be aware of is that some businesses start to close as they are pretty firm that the season is over on 31st October. But this year the 31st is a Tuesday and the half term will be at least the week or so before so the closing down ritual may not start until the weekend!

We're always out for October half term - pretty much everything is open until the 31st usually but it's always very disconcerting to see the front line businesses close literally overnight. It's a very different atmosphere but equally it's lovely and peaceful. Generally the weather is pretty good although we have experienced our fair share of storms and rain.

We also love our October/November break in P.P. and last year we were surprised at how many restaurants stayed open right through November - many more than previous years. Most of the hotels close soon after end of October but there still plenty of life in the town. And as others have said the weather can be a bit varied but we have been lucky and had some wonderful warm sunny spells.
