Default Planta Baixa.

I think Planta Baixa are aiming to be a "grown up cocktail bar", they say they play "back to the 90's" music but i have not been in.

C/Tramuntana it used to be called Xarau and was always full of young teenagers but they have spent a lot of money on an upgrade, as i said i haven't been in but it does seem to be being used by an older age group .

Sounds fab to me. Better than some of the bands you see about anyway!

Although Planta Baixa has had an upgrade, nothing much has changed!!!... Talking to some of the local residents (Spanish & English) who live close to the bar, the new owners still continue to break local laws, where loud music is now played from 18:00 - 04:00 and well over the legal 30 dBA level... As for their client's, yes they might be a little older, but most of them are the undesirables of the port, and fights are a regular occurrence and most visitors feel intimidated with the atmosphere, inside and outside the bar... I won't even go into the continued drug problem this bar has always had... I'm just glad to say that my two daughters have never showed an interest in visiting this sleazy bar!!!

Last night we were in the bar next door for pre dinner drinks, i went out for a ciggy and 4 of the well known "undesirables" were outside, very drunk and arguing among themselves . These people have been banned from a lot of bars so when somewhere new opens they start going there until eventually the owners lose patience with them and kick them out.

It's not nice to see this kind of behaviour but i guess it happens the world over, thankfully not often in PP .

Default Undesirables......

I have recently read on a post that known undesirables in port make certain bars etc uncomfortable to frequent with people feeling intimidated !!.
Are these undesirables Mallorcian or Expat ?? and is it a big problem ??

1999, i have moved your post here because your comments are related to this thread.

These people are locals, there are only a handful of them and they tend to frequent the backstreet bars. As i have already said they always end up being banned so they are now running out of places to go. It really is not a major problem in the Port and most tourists would never come across them .

I've always enjoyed a drink in the the cafe de'u moll and the new(ish) one next to it - never had a problem in them, staff have always been great and the locals appear sound. Hope these lads don't start drinking in them!!! There is a couple of bars near by where I've walked in (one in particular) and got the old look of "what are you doing in here?"...but that was probably me being paranoid....or was I wrong?

Unhappy

Just had an afternoon stroll and walked past this place. Vomit in doorways, broken glass outside and cigarette buts all over the place. Not a good advert for the port and unfortunate for the neighbours
