Didn't there used to be another bar in the port called Suttons? Good to see it being used for something, so better that having it all shut up like last year

Yes we went to Suttons a few times during our first winter living here, watched the footy and as soon as they realised we were Barca supporters our drinks measures got bigger, needless to say we were sad when it closed .

We loved Suttons. Seem to remember there were 2 brothers. Was Alex the chef or front of house?

Could it be the same people, seems strange to use a name that has been used before, or maybe not!

I'd guess the name "Sutton's" revealed is because it was probably just boarded over previously?
Anyway, regardless of who's running it just great to see someone brave enough to have a go. I've always believed this place has the potential to be the best bar in PP. Great position and outlook, from first floor anyway and ignoring the bus station. With the footpath in front being greatly widened it will help.
Just please, not a naff themed bar.

Yes Nick is correct, that is the original facade before it was made to look like an old fashioned funeral parlour .

There is quite a lot of work going on inside, so looks like it will be opening again shortly.

It'll be good to see it open again but hope they get rid of the black facade!

Only visited a couple of times as Matchpoint when we went for the live music.
It also had a nice garden area.

With the position, garden area and upstairs level it has all the attributes to be a top notch bar. Let's hope they refurbish it well and it will be another asset for PP.
They've certainly timed it well with the widening of the footpath.
Good luck to them.

Apparently the people who ran or are still running the Ambrosia have taken over the old Matchpoint bar and are planning to open it in April.
It's new name will be Pinchos.
