Default Trip Report TheFussies Week1

For the first time in many years no Miss Fussie to test the capabilities and patience of the various restaurants we frequent in Puerto Pollensa and sadly no O Lume . However Mr & Mrs Fussie have to make the best of it for the first week prior to TheFussie Friends arrival on second week.

20th June Arrival day and a bad start. Yes up at 4:00am to go to airport and after an uneventful journey arrive around 1:30pm apartment ready off to supermarket to stock up on essentials then lunch. Last year we really liked El Meson and decided to pop in for a quick bite. Unfortunately 40 minutes after ordering only the beer and wine had arrived. It appears all the other diners (5 tables) arrived just before us only one person in kitchen and one serving. Despite this the food was exceptional and good value. Peppers du pardron, seafood frita and a gorgeous pa ambo li with goats cheese. Cost including wine beer and water 26.50 euros
As a general rule on first day we don’t go to one of our favourites in case with the long day, travel etc it disappoints. Should have followed this rule as we went to Los Faroles, one of our favourites, and it was disappointing on two counts. Service not up to usual standard and poor selection on TheFussies part.
The Soller prawns, as recommended by Doogz, were very good we both really enjoyed them. MrsFussie choose stir fried cod and left most of it, I choose the turbot. Now I’ve tried it I will avoid in future. With wine & water 61.75 euro. So far not a good start.

21st June Decided to play safe Cellar la Parra. Started with a shared ham & cheese pa am oli then a special paella. Washed all this down with a bottle of the house red and at 5.50 a bottle did not feel guilty at leaving 1/3 third of it!! MrsFussie managed to get through ½ litre of sangria. This is more like the PP experience we enjoy. 41.65 euro

22nd June La Llonja for the set meal. Unfortunately neither of us actually recall what we ate!! We do like this restaurant and it is good value in a beautiful setting. 73.00 euro

23rd June Centric has been recommended by TheFussie Friends so we decide to try it out. Not been to Centric for many years and never under current owners. We were well impressed. A goats chees starter, delicious, plus focaccia with fillet of sea bass and cod for mains. Wash down with a Mortitx. 60.90 euros. Highly recommended

24th June Bar Coral. Can’t believe we have been going to PP for 19 years and never been here. Forum members rave about the lamb so it was lamb for me a chicken curry for MrsFussie. Had a shared tumbet to start but really didn’t need it portions were huge. Lamb was exceptional. Will be going back to Coral on future visits. 55.40 euro

25th Ruta. TheFussies really enjoy the Ruta, this year was a personal best 9 and still standing – just. Biggest disappointment no Bellaverde this night. In our opinion Bellaverde do the most original and tasty tapas. Highlights Tapas Tree was very good really enjoyed the sardines in pastry. It was a great atmosphere this evening so much so we stopped at the Sushibar Hokkaido to talk to fellow Ruta followers. Sushi would not have been on MrsFussies list. However we both ended up having the sushi and we both really enjoyed it. Finished up in a large group around midnight at Il Gelato. A great way to finish the evening waffle, cream, ice cream and a mini mojito for 2 euros. Cost for evening including some extras and chips at El Kiosko (yes we still had room) was 40 euros. A bargain and fun night out.

26th C’an Curassa a Fusssie favourite, only missed once in all the years we’ve visited the port. Always go for the set meal option as its good value. Started with a warm seafood salad, good but not as good as the O Lume one. MrsFussie had the salad with bacon and quince jelly. The salad was given the thumbs up! Mains were pork fillets in pepper sauce and hake. Hake was considered the better choice. All in set menu with supplements 75.60 euro

27th Decided to have a lunch at C’an Tofol 6.50 for the set lunch a noodle paella, chocolate crepe dessert plus a beer and wine. So 13 euros for two, great value and really tasty food. Again highly recommended.
Sant Pere at the pier for the charity pa am oli, a huge plate of cheese, ham tomato, olives 2.50 euro plus a beer at either 1 or 1.50 euro. I thought that a bargain but the following night was even better see next instalment.
Pa am oli is not enough for a nights sustenance so of to Tapas Tree. We shared croquettes, scotch egg, potatas bravas and vegetable empenadas. All were beautifully presented and suitable supported by very nice red and white wines. Wine portion (they must have taken note of Belladonna’s comment) were generous.
So that was week one some old favourites coupled with 3 new to TheFussies
