Summer 2015 part 1
Finally sorted out my reports, been back nearly 2 weeks and missing the port badly, going back in September again which is the only thing keeping us going.
It goes without saying that we have a wonderful time, we always do, but this time it seemed to be even better somehow, we meet even more lovely people and old friends, I think FB helps ( message me to be my friend (How sad is that)).
So we stayed at the same apartment as last year with the massive roof terrace over looking Gotmar, we love it now and booked again for September, its a great location with stunning views of the sunrise and sunsets.

Saturday 30th
We arrived in the port mid morning after a very early flight, and after a few coffees in cafe 1919, and the first beer of the holiday, always tastes best, we headed off to el Casinet as it was the closest.
. by sws97sdg, on Flickr
El Casinet
2 Pizza vegetal
1 Goats cheese salad
1 bottle of Mortitx Rosado
As it turned out, this was probably the worst meal of the holiday, mainly because we were the first in and I don't think the pizza oven was up to temperature, the topping was great but the base was a bit soggy and disappointing, but it didn't spoil our anticipation.
So after we settled in to the apartment, been to the beach and done the shopping it was time for the main event of the day, the football!! The first game was the Copa del Rey final featuring Barca of cause, we had planned to head up into town to catch up with everyone, but it was getting late and we made it as far as Mombasa, saw they had it on and called in for one which ended up in several celebrating their first win of the two finals of the holiday
Pre match preparations.

Sunday 31st May
It was the wifes birthday today, so she got to choose where to eat, luckily it was the same places I wanted to. As you may know from previous years we love Sundays and have a perfect day in mind when we dream back in the UK, today was as perfect as that dream. Up early for a swim and to pick up breakfast and then card opening and breakfast on the terrace. We hired bikes for the duration so today we headed off toward Pollensa for the market, we went the back way past Hotel Llenaire and along the river.

The market was much quieter than in the peak time and much more pleasant to walk around, we had our usual coffee and beer at Cafe Avenida, lovely people there, then off to lunch at Manzanas y Peras. We love it here for market day, again lovely people and the best goats cheese salad anywhere, so a wonderful long lunch before cycling back the long way and straight into the pool for a swim

After spending some time on the beach we decided to head back up to town to La Trencadora for dinner, our favorite place and always busy so we booked at lunchtime, we caught the bus and headed off to the restaurant.
Just as well we booked as it was very busy, we sat at our usual table by the fountain.
We had two proseccos to start, followed by Burrata for me which was divine, then two wonderful pasta dishes for mains, again wonderful

we had a great time and Jonsey came over to speak which was nice, we both said it felt different here this time, it was almost all new staff and somehow it was strange in a way, the food was still great though.
The birthday girl!

Wednesday 3rd
Headed around the bay to Alcudia today on the bikes, such a fantastic ride along the coast road and then through the fields to the old town. We stopped for coffee and a look around before heading down to Mal Pas to one of our favorite restaurant Cinco Oceanos.
DSCN3939 by sws97sdg, on Flickr
We love this place and we were pleased to see it more busy this time, the food was delicious as usual, and the vibe is as chilled as always, we had a long relaxing lunch, with a fantastic new wine to us, Nou Nat, from Mallorca and great with the food. I had a pizza which all mushroom pizzas will be judged against, it was sublime, it was preserved wild mushrooms form Mallorca with truffle oil, simply the best mushroom pizza ever

After lunch we headed to the best beach in the area, Mal Pas and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the sea and having a siesta.

Wednesday 3rd Evening
We arranged to go to Centic with Lyn & Colin tonight and meet up at Nostalgia for drinks ahead of this, we realised this was the first time we had gone there in daylight, its normally very late and dark! We haven't been for a while but Lee remembered us and even know what the wife was drinking!!
Short hop across to the restaurant, and usual welcome from the guys there, disappointed they didn't seem to be doing the veggie MDD, but the risotto was still on the menu so went for that. The food and service were fantastic as always, the waitress who looks the image of Cerys Matthews was as attentive as usual. So great to catch up with the Sparkes again, we had lots to talk about and we had a lovely evening.
After dinner we headed off to Bony to see Jose, Colin headed off and we made him promise to give us two rings when he was home. Usual welcome from Jose who is looking so well this year. We were only stopping for one, honest, but we ended up with the usual free round which made it a late night, again, but we walked back through the port, full and very happy.
Centric
Brie & jam/ goats cheese with honey salt and cranberries
Vegetarian Risotto/ Samban Asian wok fried noodles

Friday 5th
We were a bit over ambitious today, the temperatures were starting to climb, so our plan of going early June to avoid the heat didn’t really work. We like to do lots of activities so it makes it more pleasant without the heat, anyway we shouldn’t complain.
We decided to cycle to Pollensa again and climb up puig Maria, we haven’t been for a while so on an increasingly hot day we headed off the back way again past the hotel and through all the backstreets to the town. I have said in the past that we hope to relocate to PP as soon as we are able, and we would love to have a finca or villa with some land, so we enjoy cycling along all the small roads that run around through villas and in areas very few tourists get to. We think we have just about covered all of them south of the main road and down to the wetlands between the port and Alcudia. We try and spot places we have seen on the tinterweb, or find places suitable for us, it’s a great way to spend time.
DSCN3951 by sws97sdg, on Flickr
Anyway, we arrived at the foot of the mountain, locked up the bikes and headed up, enjoying the increasingly good views on the way. It was stepper than we remembered and were passed my most people but we finally reached the top!

It’s good to see the cats and goats again and once again to enjoy the fabulous views from the top, it is a lovely serine place and so good to relax you and to soothe you, and to heal your stressed out life.
The air was so clear we could see Menorca although you can only just make it out in the pic.

So restored we headed back down again and across to the town, we headed to Ca’n Olesa in the square to enjoy the delights of their pizzas, the best in the town.
It was fairly busy for lunchtime, with a large table of very vocal locals enjoying celebrating a girl’s birthday. It was great to watch them as they all enjoyed copious bottles of wine and even nonna at the head of the table was downing the red wine. It turned out it was the owner and all his family, didn’t recognise him at first, but as we left he shouted across “bye, see you later” and put his thumb up as he must of remembered us.
As it was hot, beer was the order of the day so I started with grilled artichoke with garlic and parsley and the wife had Burrata, both huge potions which would have been enough on their own. Next were 2 pizzas and I think the best in the town, they are divine, especially the vegetable one which was huge. So what a wonderful way to spend a lunchtime, people watching and enjoying the atmosphere form the party which was rounded off by them bringing out a cake and everyone singing happy birthday to her.
So once again back on the bikes and the long cycle back which we took very slowly after the huge lunch and the drinks!! Back to the apartment and collapsed into the pool to cool down. Then on to the beach and a siesta, before heading off in the evening to Neptuno for a couple of tapas as we were still stuffed from lunchtime. A very long but wonderful day!
