(Proxy) Trip Report June

We had to cancel our June visit to PP due to Mrs C's fall in Nerja in May. However our friends were visiting PP for the first time and have emailed us with a 'trip report'.
Hope they don't mind me sharing it. ;) It's the nearest we will get to PP this year.

"Well we had a great time in Pollensa.

The apartment was a studio so quite small,(Club IllaD'or) but lovely all the same, and with a terrace overlooking the pool of course. We loved it because it was so private and quiet and that end of the bay is definitely the place to stay. The Illa D'Or hotel is very grand and we did miss seeing you on the terrace for drinks! Spotted the Villa Singala - that looks like a nice place to stay too.

We walked all the way up to the Pollensa Park at the other end of the bay and came across the little hotel my friend and I had stayed on my last visit many years ago! There seems to have been a lot of development since then but not much high rise which is a good thing.

The weather was a bit unsettled for the first few days and we had a torrential downpour accompanied by thunder and lightening one afternoon. The second half of the week was sunny and hot so no complaints at all.

I agree with your comments about the markets. The Sunday market in Pollensa was definitely the better one and we bought some lovely fresh fruit and veg there. It looked like a lot of the locals were shopping there too which is always a good advert.

We tried most of the restaurants you recommended in the Port (although just had a drink at Stay) and loved them all. Thank you so much for the tips as they weren't the obvious places to go. What struck us was that most were family owned and the staff took such a pride in what they were doing. We so often have to put up with mediocre service at home so it made such a nice change. The food was all great - in particular the paella and fish at Nu Raixa where we went twice. We also enjoyed Siller, and Coral was great value for money. Can Ferra was another good place. At most places we just had the house wines and were impressed at how good they all were. We loved the olives, bread and aioli that you got everywhere and we ate every scrap at each meal! Disasterous for the waistline but couldn't resist it.

We had a boat trip around Cape Formentor which was a lovely way to see a bit of the coast and the rest of the time just strolled and lazed by the pool!

We will definitely be going back."

It's great to read a 'first timer's' opinion of PP - most of us on here have been going for so long we have maybe become a bit blase and over critical sometimes;) And even better that Clinkham's friends loved the place and will be returning:)
