New restaurant, Velomar.

A new restaurant is opening soon, it is called Velomar and will serve burgers, pizzas, breakfasts and brunches. They already have a page on FB .

P.S it says it is on Passeig Vora Mar ( the Pine Walk)

Fencer 10-03-2015 08:22

Another typical Spanish restaurant then. With Pizza Pronto the 5 euro pizza opening soon.
PP is more junk food than quality. Sign of the times eh?

sws97sdg 10-03-2015 08:31

It looks very modern and stylish from the picture!

Belladonna 10-03-2015 09:27

True, but not particularly comfortable for a long sit down! I agree Fencer, another fast food eat up and go place. Bit of a shame really. People will be travelling outside of the port to find home cooked typical mallorcan meals. :o

sws97sdg 10-03-2015 09:31

Lets give the place a chance, it hasn't even opened yet, by the looks of it is a snack bar for breakfast and lunches for people coming off the beach! Its number 7 and Little Italy is 5o something so it is up further than that, any more info on it, Mary maybe?

Belladonna 10-03-2015 09:58

Of course it will have its place, I'm just mourning Manduccas pizzas and Joseps comfortable meals!:o

Always room for competition keeps prices down.

Belladonna 10-03-2015 10:15

Agree Snowy, as long as it doesn't mean quality as well! And they cant compete if they have been pushed out! :(

marilyn 10-03-2015 10:58

La Balada del Agua de Mar is at no 5 so it just past that and C'an Pescador at the start of the pinewalk. Always sad to see old favourites go but lots of new places to check out next month. Hopefully one or two gems amongst them.

its cd 11-03-2015 00:07

I thought I had seen this new restaurant advertised on Facebook as being in the old Can Josep premises

Sparky 11-03-2015 00:49

It definitely says it is on Passeig Vora Mar ( the Pine Walk) on their FB page, maybe someone wrongly assumed it was the old Can Josep.

barefoot 11-03-2015 09:01

Walked past the old Can Josep recently and there was no sign of any work, so really don't think it can be there (unless they are working very quietly under cover of night!)

sws97sdg 11-03-2015 09:30

It deffo looks like it is on the pinewalk I think from the picture, unless they have moved the sea wall, palm trees and road!!

Belladonna 11-03-2015 09:40

They have had a problem with their map on their facebook page and are trying to fix it so all will become clear! I still have no idea where it actually is, what restaurant was it before? I can visualise work being done on somewhere along the Pine walk, that also went right through to the little back road where you could look through and see the sea, I wonder if its that one?

sws97sdg 11-03-2015 09:58

..and of course the Google car didn't drive up the pine walk so we cant even look on that

Nick 11-03-2015 11:19

It looks to me like the restaurant opposite Corb Mari that used to be Los Pescadores or something like that, the one where David Cameron went.

It's that kind of shape. Can't imagine it being anything else down the Pinewalk?

Isn't Can Pescadores part of the Tex Mex chain?, i think it may be further along the Pine Walk than that ;).

sws97sdg 11-03-2015 11:52

There was an empty unit along the first bit wasn't there, didn't it have a hording advertising a holiday rental firm or something, going through old pictures trying to find a clue!

Sparky 11-03-2015 12:27

Looks like this is part of a chain, the email address given on the FB page is grupoobris2012** so i Googled it....came up with "Pizzeria Obris", have a look ;).

Sparky 11-03-2015 12:44

Seems to be a Pizzeria Obris on Carrer Temple 2 Pollensa .

Tone 11-03-2015 13:01

Hi it's next to El Pescador Monica Pieptanar says. What was there before?

sws97sdg 11-03-2015 13:28

The restaurant with the fig tree and the cat!

That one is called "La Balada del Agua Del Mar" and is number 5 ;).

Belladonna 11-03-2015 13:46

sws97sdg 11-03-2015 13:48

Isn't that the place left by the old lady who died to be used as a drop-in centre (sorry for the phrase but don't know what it is?!) so can't be that.

For God's sake someone please take a walk down there.

Sparky, give your flip-flops an airing and check it out!!!

I think you mean "Bar Katy" Nick ;), i did wonder about that.

Sorry my flip flops only take to places where i can get a vino con hielo and as this place is not open yet i will have to decline your suggestion ;) ;).

pollensa 11-03-2015 15:30

If you're all very nice to me, I will have a look - after I've recovered from our horribly early flight tomorrow morning. My trainers can manage that.... ;);)

debz1 11-03-2015 15:33

Bar Katy was much further up past Little Italy. There was only ever apartments along that stretch. It's not the apartment where the Chinese massage man used to live is it?

Sparky 11-03-2015 15:53

It says it's number 7 so must be 2 doors along from "La Balada del Agua Del Mar" which is number 5.
I haven't been down that way since Los Pescadores closed down so really don't know ;).

We've never visited the chinese massage mans' house . But we'll look forward to hearing about it next week.

Nick 11-03-2015 22:02

Just a thought but I believe, within the last year or so, there was no "change of use" allowed at least for premises on the Pine Walk so the new restaurant can't be in what was previously a domestic dwelling?

This is not some early April Fool's Day joke is it?!

Sparky 11-03-2015 23:25

Yes that is right but if plans had been submitted and approved before the cut off date then i would think that they can go ahead.

Always assuming that there has been a change of use, wherever this restaurant is :).

animagic21 12-03-2015 00:51

When we visited in Jan, we saw that an apt on Pine Walk, just by the fig tree with tabby cat restaurant was having a complete refurbishment..ie..gutted inside. We were particularly interested as we had stayed in the apt a few years ago. It had grey railings round it, & we felt 'fenced in' Additionally the place was actually rather creepy at night!! Maybe this is 'the' one!!!!

debz1 12-03-2015 02:12

Chelseadons has just got back from THE 'big match' and not very happy at all
:( He's just read this thread and concurs with what I've said ...except

It wasn't a Chinese massage man......he was Japanese :)

pollensafan 12-03-2015 10:24

Having walked past there in February, it looked like the massage guy's place that was being converted

was he Chinese not Japanese?

Jonsey 12-03-2015 11:03

Amazing! Never thought the whereabouts of a new burger and pizza joint would create such entertaining debate!
