Default Don't go to Bombay Indian restaurant!

Just got back from PP, and for the first time in 4 years had, we had a bad meal. Actually it was one of 14 nights that we decided to eat in and get the kids to bed early.

My husband collected the takeaway and as frequent indian food eaters I can honestly say the food was unacceptable - we spent nearly £30, and from the start with popadoms which tasted like they had been fried in black old oil through to the meat which tasted very processed and the sauces were very weird dark brown and tasted exactly like curry powder, even though we order 3 different meat dishes. I can honestly say there wasn't one thing that was even slightly positive.

I will be very very surprised if it will still be there when we return in May.

PS We walked past it on our last night (Friday) around 10.00 and it was completely empty.

its a relatively new one on the road to Formentor I think I'm right in saying that it used to be a chinese restaurant. The one in the square is called Kashmir and was always busy.

We only went to Bombay as a local English resident recommended it! :\

Agree with your comments. The Kashmir isn't worth writing home about either. For good Indian food in the Port try the Taj Majal (same cobbled side street as Molies, Bona Cepa and Montenegro - think address is c/Virgen del Carmen)

Well that's a relief, our son was quite keen to get a take away from there but we were most certainly not! Just shows, parents always know best.....:rollin

We went in April and it was very quiet, and (whilst I wouldn't be quite as negative as others here), we had to send one dish back cold.
I wouldn't hurry back to be honest, but I look forward to trying the Taj Mahal next time, thanks for the recommendation

I don't go to Spain to eat Indian or Chinese, like I said in my original post it was 1 night out of 14 that we opted for a take out - being on the pinewalk, with children asleep in bed this was our closest take out with no other choices that we were aware of.

Loolabell,

sorry if you took offense...it was not any sort of dig at you. More a comment on something I noted when we were in PP recently that Indian and Chinese restaurants seemed to be expanding in numbers and I just cant work out why anyone would want a curry in that heat (but that may just be me ).

thanks Hunter, no offense taken - I too hate to see the place getting more commercialised but I fear it is. I guess its supply and demand, and if its being demanded (Burger King etc) then it will be supplied.

I think that certainly for my family and I we will be seeking either to opt out of the August tourism in PP, or find another nook somewhere else on the Island.
