Default Free range meat

I'm on the countdown now - arriving in 10 days! So....I've been reading all the restaurant reviews and noted where to get the best paella and steak (among other things!).
My question is do you think that the chicken and pork served in restaurants and takeaways will be free range? I've always sort of assumed that the chicken and pigs would be Mallorcan and not factory farmed; but my daughter wants to know for certain. The same question applies to the meat in the supermarkets.
Any help and advice will be welcome.

Default Free range meat

A good question!

Two ports of call I can think of - the first is the Ensenat shop in old Pollensa. They are a traditional family butchers and delicatessen, with an amazing range of everything. I am pretty sure that their roast chicken are farm raised ones - they certainly taste better than any other ones and are a tad more expensive than the spit roast ones in the port. They speak good English there so you could easily enquire about the meat they have there as well.

The other place in the port is the Biobotiga shop in carrer joan XXIII,52 07470 Puerto de Pollensa. Everything they have there is organic and although I don't think that they sell meat, they will probably know where you can obtain farm reared/organic meat. They are on Facebook and you could always contact them in advance on there.

Smile Ensenat

Ensenat is an excellent suggestion, Lorenzo. We love going there and this will give us a reason. We'll have to be disciplined about what we indulge in, though, as we don't have a car this time. Maybe a taxi will be necessary.... And we'll check out Biobotiga, too. Thank you.
