Default Ca'l Dimoni

I'm just getting to the end of Peter Kerr's second book, "Manana Manana" and thoroughly enjoying it.

I read about his visit to the restaurant of "Ca'l Dimoni" (House of the Devil) and told the children about it. They're now clamouring to go in August.

I understand it's on the Palma-Manacor road. Has anyone been there? If so, is it as good as Peter Kerr makes out?

If no-one has been we'll take the kids in August and report back.

Jane

Default Can Dimoni

Yes, I've been, a couple of years ago. It's a very strange place! Lots of demon pictures, statues etc.
The evening I went, the place was particularly smokey (I think from rhe bar-b-q area) but this added to the very strange atmosphere.
I remember the meat dishes being particularly good.
It would be good to hear from anyone who has been recently.
People also talk of a good place , ithink called The Four Winds in the same area. Anyone been?

Lots of roadworks on the Palma /Manacor road at present.

Cheers!
Frito.

Hello Frito,

Thank you for replying. It sounds like the sort of place that will frighten the children silly, but they'll love it!!

We'll make plans to go in August and let you all know what we think. The food sounds good!

Thanks
Jane

Not long now then?

But best is it on a Sunday?

With the special effects lot in!

Perhaps someone else might even have a "suss-out"?

Hi Portofan and Rob!

Not long to go now for me - 6 weeks, 1 day!

I am going to try hard and get to Ca'n Dimoni with the children - on a Sunday perhaps at lunchtime.

Will definitely tell you all how it was if we go!!

Regards
Jane

I look forward to reading your review jane. I always enjoy reading everything you write, and look forward to reading more from you.
That's not to say I don't enjoy reading what others write, God I'm digging a big hole for myself again .
Keep it up!.
Take care.

How do you get two adults and two children into a really grumpy mood?

Travel the Manacor-Palma road and try and find Ca'n Dimoni, that's how!!!

We travelled to Manacor in high spirits because we knew that for once I wouldn't be driving through one of my favourite towns on the island (!)

As we drove along we kept our eyes peeled for the restaurant hoping perhaps to see a huge demon balanced on top to really scare the wee ones!

But there are so many roadworks along this stretch that we found it really difficult to see anything. I did pity the poor men working though as the heat was intense and the dust was terrible.

We carried on hoping that it would appear but we had no luck at all so we were all very disappointed. Is it still there?

Any news would be great as we can always try again next time we are out.

Sorry you didn't find it. I did a bit of surfing & found this:

Algaida
Cal Dimoni **
Meat and blood sausages grilled over an open fire at the 'house of the devil'.
Carrelera Palma-Manacor, km21
971665035
Lunch, dinner. Closed Wed

The site is a bit old so no guarantee that it is still there but it appears to be in Algaida. Better luck next year!

Hi Pollensa,

I know I should have done the sensible thing and found the address before we went but there you go!

Next time we're out we'll have another look.

Regards
Jane
