Question El Ancla

Hi, wondered if anyone could tell me if the Anchor bar/restaurant is still on the road by the Romantica hotel? and still run by the same man? Haven't been to PP for acouple of years but recall having pretty good suppers there and most reasonable. Thanks in anticipation of a reply or two?

Sorry to be a killjoy but we had a meal there ( well should say we ordered one but couldn't eat it) last October and it was the worst meal ever in PP or anywhere else probably. Maybe we were just unlucky and it was a bad night but as there are so many other places to choose from - we shan't be going back

Jeezo Rosie, isn't it amazing how we all have different impressions of places?

After going to El ancla a couple of days ago we are presently sitting here having had a dip in the pollypark pool. Iv had the mdd which was chickpea soup, followed by lamb shank and I'm hoping lemon meringue pie. The wee man had a cheese and ham toastie. It has been fabulous!

It's the type of place which serves wholesome hearty food and with a bottle of estrella at €1.50 I could see myself sitting here for a while!

Edit to say for your €8.50 you also get a basket of bread, Ali oli and a plate of olives and a drink. How can they do it?

Does anybody know what time (from and to) the MDD is served?

This is our favourite spot for morning cortados ( sometimes washed down with a wee Soberano,) - lovely hospitable family atmosphere.

Hi janey El ancla used to be owned by LEO,and his father PEPE used to sit just outside the door to the restaurant,it used to be a great place, good food reasonable prices, and TONY was a great waiter. If LEO has sold that explains some of the comments. MAJORCA VETERAN

Leo still owns El Ancla. His father was called Felipe but he passed away many years ago. It has also been many years ago since Toni worked there, he left to run his own bar but it failed and he has been working in Stay for quite a few years now.

Although there are loads of good reviews our only eating experience there (last October) was bad - to say the least. The food was inedible
