Personally I think its a shame that we are getting a lot of bars and restaurants with English names. I love the Spanish named bars and restaurants; Manzanas Y Peras, O'Lume, Trencadora, Los Zarzales etc etc. But obviously if it is English sounding you know what you are getting - and what you are not!

Walked past this evening while enjoying the tapas route and 'Why not?" was mobbed with locals - we may try to pop in on another evening if its a little less crowded

I have found out that tonight was the opening party so all those people were guests, apparently it's being run by a family from Pollensa .

I recently looked at some family photos of PP in the 1980's. What struck me was how "foreign" it looked, such a relatively short time ago. Spanish words and signage, cars that we didn't have in the UK - I'm sure many will recall just what I mean.

Only one picture has any english on it, and that the word Hamburger!

Yes back in the 80's I remember watching the daily deliveries of Coffee Beans to most of the cafes/restaurants on the front (this did make us think this is very different to home, which we love).

Re the Lovemallorca's comment about " Cars we didn't have in the uk ".

Very true, I have been coming here every year since 1972 and if anyone doubts what tourism has done for this island then look no further than the cars owned then to now. Especially the taxis.

Ps...... Having gone off topic I'm just off to give myself 20 lashes before anyone else mentions it.

Yes it is small, for those who may remember it's where "Pat and Debs" bar was .

I remember Pat & Debs. It was nice friendly little bar - such a shame they left. I believe they had trouble with the building/landlord and couldn't continue on the premises?
